Here is my Monogram HO Big Boy Model fully completed and painted up.

This monsterous steamer stands at 18 1/4" long, and makes my U.P. GP20 look like childsplay.

Beautiful! I had the wonderful opportunity of seeing that gorgeous locomotive in action last year when Union Pacific was making it's heritage run with the fully restored big boy. Passed right through the rail yards near Boone, Iowa, and even stopped briefly! What a machine

Nice job!
I too saw the real deal last year and was inspired to finish the kit I had laying around.

Very nice work there! I've actually been working on and off to power one of these things. The power chassis is fit into the tender and works nicely so far. The real challenge is getting the engine to roll smoothly!

Thank you Darth, your model looks quite nice as well, I was trying to paint as close as their example as I could.

As far as operation I don't plan to try. My big boy had one compromised pin that made it so I had to make it stationary, but I found the drive gear to be kind of a janky setup anyway. It's too tight, and the four slide rods don't stay put whatsoever.

This month I am replacing a majority of the furniture in my room, so I do hope this model will look quite nice on top of my new book case.
