May I present....
The Iconic Locomotives of the Pennsy
This digitally-enhanced photo I consider one of my best, since it showcases my 3 favorite locomotives of all time from my favorite railroad of all time (the K4, GG1, and RF-16 "Shark.")
Enjoy!

Maybe I should invest in some Tootsie-Toy trucks, but on second thought, I much rather prefer the plastic ones.
Today, I got the Ephrata Valley F9 running, on MU-2 power! I also finished off the caboose!
The first Ephrata Valley Railroad freight train! Thanks, Aaron, for your hard work and for making all this possible.

No problem RP! I look forward to seeing this old beauty pulling freight in a future video. And if one comes up at the right price, we might have to collaborate on the B-unit. That would be cool...

So, I'll be making a lot of changes this year to the EVRR. Below are my 2021 plans.
In simple terms, the Ephrata Fire Department will be getting a new firehouse, the drab wooden house next to it will either become a junkyard scene or garage, the balsa wood set of stores will be replaced with "Al's General Store" and a small gas station behind it. The little park scene by the Schuylkill Valley Station will be moved into the trees a little bit more, to make room for a small Water Tower. The white house next to town hall will become a convenience store or restaurant of some kind probably, and police cars will be put alongside the right side of town hall.
I will also be removing the rock wall and trees in the back, and replace it with a foam backdrop, that will be carved and painted to look like rock.
These are 2021 plans for the EVRR - so I'm not rushing this, but this is my goal for the layout this year!

I'm going to miss that old white house, it looks so Pennsylvania! But progress can't be stopped.
And no, I don't want to buy it, I have absolutely no place to fit one more thing!!!

Well, came out looking different from the rendering, but I like it. I never attempted anything this detailed before.
What I learned was, I should have glossed the locomotive before applying the decals, as the film of all the decals is showing, not to mention they come off very easily, due to the flat paint surface of the locomotive. Next time, I'll make sure to do this when decaling a locomotive.
I do have plans to remove the decals in the future, however, to replace them with the same stickers used by Aaron on the other custom pieces for the Ephrata Valley Railroad. Won't be that realistic, but it will look much better than the decals, and will match.

Yeah, should've glossed the Mogul first. Ah well, you live and learn. The stickers should fix the problem though, and it will then match the rest of the Ephrata Valley RR roster.
Update: I did buy this new sealed Model Power Fire Station kit, for like under 15 bucks. This will be the new Ephrata Fire Department....eventually.

Replaced the decals on the Mogul with the "vinyl lettering," as it is officially known. Looks so much better.

The Ephrata Valley RR Tycoon has approved the final rendering of the railroad's new 4-6-2 "Pacific" steam locomotive, made by Tyco Mantua. This time, I'm sticking strictly to this plan.

Thank you, Erik!
Well, the 4-6-2 came out of the paint shops looking a little different than the rendering, but the Tycoon was pleased. Ephrata Valley RR 4-6-2 Pacific #56 is now in service! My latest Ephrata Valley custom project has been finished. Enjoy!

An ongoing example that a layout does not need to be ginormous to be amazing. Someday I might downsize Armadilloville in a like manner to EVRR.

Aaron - Can't wait either! The Anderson Shops has quite a good business partnership with the Ephrata Valley RR Tycoon.
Chops - really appreciate that! It is just so awesome to be not only running custom Ephrata Valley RR locomotives, but also to be successful at making my very own custom locomotives, for my 4'x4' I've been working on now for 6 years. That would be epic, but Armadilloville looks very good in 4'x8'.

So, one of my old MRC copper powerpacks/transformers, which controlled the outer line on the EVRR, finally went kablooey. I noticed a significant difference in the speed of my locomotives recently, and upon trying a standard "train-set" powerpack in its place, the trains ran fine. Sure enough, after fully removing the MRC transformer, it sounded like a maraca when I picked it up.....I installed a Life-Like blue powerpack in its place for now.
Soon after, I found a newer MRC 280 dual powerpack at a great price, so I can't wait for it to arrive and then install it, also replacing the other copper MRC powerpack that controls the inner line, in the process. I'm sure it will provide for better operations.
By the way, here's an overview shot of the layout now, after some changes/additions. More details to come.

So, here's the new - old - powerpack for the EVRR. A MRC 280 dual control transformer. It does a good job at helping older engines like Mantua diecast steamers run better, and will serve the Tycoon for years to come.

I, too, have found that the the 1 amp MRC transformer has considerable "ooomph" than the 1/2 amp of the toy Tyco transformers.

The Tyco transformers will only light about 10 light ups before losing a lot of power. Glad I found out about the Ripmax power box

Hmm, I should maybe look into a stronger power pack myself, might help mitigate the power loss problem I have from track refusing to get and stay clean.
What amperage is the Bachmann model 6607 power pack (which is what I use)?
