I ran across this diesel by Cox at my local train shop. I've seen the military and Pine Hill ? diesels, but this is the first time I've seen this particular one in RI scheme. Needed some work so I took it apart, cleaned it up, and resoldered the broken wire, and it runs rather nicely. I was surprised to find the rather Tyco-like PT-style truck layout. I don't know that I've ever taken a peek under the hood of a Cox HO engine before. At any rate, a bit noisy but it runs OK now, and may soon be mine.

I've had several Cox locos, and they all have a distinct "growl" out of the box, even brand new. According to the old pages on Tony's website, the GP9 was offered in Big Pine, Championship Train, CN, CP Rail, Chessie, Rock Island, Ontario Northland and Santa Fe.
They're cool engines. I like old Cox stuff.
Nice find :D
