Some time ago, I bought some very old Mantua locally. Had a Mantua boiler that's mint. The oddity is that the only molded detail is the headlight! No walkways, domes etc etc. Absolutely no marks of any. Tells me this must be very rare or very old. Couldn't find anything on it on HO Seeker. " Heck with counting 'em rivets, TRAINS ARE FOR FUN! True blue Mantua piece. I'll find it again. It's storage right now. " Heck with counting 'em rivets, TRAINS ARE FOR FUN! Not called the Mad Scientist for nothing either!"

Hi Ken I'm a little late with this reply. for that I am sorry. You can see all the riveted detail on the cab and smoke box front. it probably was a Penn Line K4 or L1 boiler someone was smoothing out to make a Alco pilot K26 or 28 whichever is the designation for a test loco for the Pennsy. The Penn Line number should tell you which loco the boiler came from. They really removed all the boiler detail and removed the belpaire firebox. A lot of good work was done to that boiler. The walkways were even mounted. The real hard work is done. toptrain
