Photos from my trips to Valley Railroad in Essex Connecticut during July and August 2009. There is also a boat ride along the Connecticut River in Deep River Connecticut.

Four miles south of Essex is Old Saybrook where Amtrak has a station. Next to the station is a restaurant which has a HO scale layout on its second floor. Hope others visit this wonderful area.

Thanks for the vicarious tour!
That's a really nice railroad (full size). It looks like a real going concern with that well maintained track and train.
The model is great, too. They've really lavished detail on that layout.

Thanks for the photos. You gotta love that 2-8-0 they have. Seriously, I need an H0 version of that engine.

"A lot of modellers out there who go to these train shows see broken HO stuff and go, 'This is useless' when, in reality, they can still be used for modeling whether it's as a prop on your layout or a cool project to make something old new again."

Have a few more photos to share. The last photo is unrelated to trains but still cute. Eclectus parrot that I care for from a dear neighbor who passed away recently.

That's a handsome 2-8-0. It reminds me of #60 on the Black River & Western.
I think you need to get a G scale set for Eclectus to ride around on.

Thanks for the compliments. Some videos I took ten years ago.
Last video is the HO layout in a restaurant in Old Saybrook.

Some print photos from my various trips over the years.
Over the years I have enjoyed watching the various steam engines run.
Always enjoy the sounds.
As well as the sight.
I have seen three different steam engines in the valley.
Last trip nearly ten years ago.
Will try to revisit this year.
Pleasant walk.
Plenty of shade with sunny spots.
Essex Connecticut train station.
Transfer to the boat that is on the Connecticut River.
Pleasant park to view the river and the railroad.

They run Friday Saturday and Sunday Robert. They also have a dinner train as well. Schedule may be different this year.
Not my videos. Cross sell the railroad is the purpose.

I’d surely love to tide that classic beauty. Given a ride in a Corvette, or a seat in that coach, I’take the train, boss!

A magical journey. I love the way the rails fit like a garden foot path through the nearly tropical New England forest.
