Middle of the night and I go to the basement to dig out Fiats...
The turquoise one is very common. The red one as I'm told was sold only in a set. I remember it in a BP set back then. No box come with this car. Red car begs a higher price... The turquoise car I've had at least 40 years...

Nice finds, walt.To be honest, I like the turquoise color on the Fiat better than red. They both look cool though.

I like them both also, Stephen.... I was surprised to find the red version at a local flea market about 15 years ago. One of my friends, a much older man who loved and sold old toys had it...
The turquois one come from Gunther's Drug Store in Chillicothe, Ohio in 1972... I've had it all this time.

I have the turquoise Fiat. I've never knew there was a red version. It was turquoise on the box artwork too, so it must be rare.

Nelson, the red one is considered rare though they're on eBay fairly often. Worse is they usually come with a crazy high price tag... !
My Father bought me the King Size Mercedes Ambulance when I was young. I replaced it with this on about 12 years ago....

Jerry (from W,VA) has encouraged me to redo this old Matchbox Lincoln after seeing his ambulance... Not sure when I'll do this. Have never attempted a nice repaint of a Matchbox car...

Cool! It's a fun project Walt, giving a 'junker' Matchbox a new lease on life I drill out (as carefully as possible) the bottom rivet(s), to get them apart. The original paint won't budge with alcohol if you want to take it off - you'll need some kind of heavy-duty stripper.

Many nice photos on this inactive thread. Reactivate it with a photo of a competitor.
Even though this is a Hot Wheels item they are similar to the matchbox cars.
Photo taken back in April at the Plandome New York train station.

Another photo of the major competitor for Matchbox.
Good idea is for both Matchbox and Hot Wheels items be shown here. I chose this thread since there are four pages of nice photos. Definitely not to be hidden but expanded with new photos.

NOW both owned by Mattel As many stated the work trucks work better on HO layouts used the Denver Fire Truck in the Plasticville HO firehouse
The bulk of the cars work better w S gauge ironically when Flyer was bought out by Lionel Hot Wheels came out and established 1/64th scale
Maybe putting some matchbox on e bay PLUS does anyone her restore got MANY a case like that

That Chevy Hot Wheels car is available at CVS stores and other similar centers.

"Here's all of my vintage regular wheels Matchbox.
The first picture is a Matchbox car with the box that I got at a train show for $15.
The next one I got for $1 at another train show.
The last two I got $5 for both of them together so it was like $2.50 for each of the vans."

Fabulous collections. I fear if I gaze too long upon them I will end up becoming a collector, myself. The vintage ones are particularly appealing.
