Here is my second new one 4-6-0 camelback. The castings are good but valve hanger in broken. The front pilot is broken. The tender is a all brass tender, the original wasn't with this locomotive.
The locomotive was acquired at the last Allentown train show, 05-09-2015. It now has a replacement frame with a good pilot, valve gear hanger. I replaced the original motor with another which turned better. I mounted the new body on this rebuilt drive completing the locomotive. I had a spare tender for the loco and a original box to put it in. Now I have 2 of these locomotives. This second one is in need of some black paint touchups. When done I'll take a photo of it and one of the two together and post.

edit ; 8-11-15. Once fixed I gave it my son Steve for him to use on his Saylorsburg layout.

I just won this 0-4-0 camel Back on ebay for ~$17 CDN including shipping. Casting is is perfect shape however the motor is shot - the commutator is broken in 2 places. Any suggestions on how to proceed with remotoring?

ANNOUNCEMENT: I've recently picked up 3D modeling and have also begun restoring my Aristocraft Ashland Coal & Iron Rwy. 0-8-0. The tender is completely shot through with zinc rot and is about ready to fall apart, so I'm drawing up an exact copy in ProDesktop that can be 3D-printed to make a perfect replacement. I'm currently working on getting access to some very high-quality 3D printers. Once this is done I have an offer to make:

If anyone has any castings or pieces suffering from zinc rot or that are just very hard to get more of, if you lend me them for a week or two I can make a perfect digital copy and have one or more printed if you need.

I'm specifically interested in getting access to New One/Aristocraft tenders and frames, since as we all know they're especially prone to zinc rot, and I still need a new pilot and tender for my dead Thomas Rogers. After the AC&I 0-8-0 tender I'll be drawing up Ulrich hopper doors, various reefer hatches for old cardboard and wood kits, and something of my own design: a custom coupler pocket that allows kadees to be mounted easily on the original solid-cast-metal Mantua 40' flatcar.
I'm also tracing up the AC&I tender graphics in Adobe Illustrator to print reproduction decals for it, so while I currently don't have someone to print decals, I can definitely take requests to digitally reproduce lettering and graphics from any old models or model parts.

Costs and logistics are still being figured out but this is very promising. Basically, I would need the part in question to be mailed to me, turnaround time for a complete 3D model could be an hour for a small part or a couple weeks for something like an entire tender (the rivets are more trouble than you would expect), at the end of which time I'd mail it back. Of course, zinc-rotting things would have to be packed very securely to prevent fracture. Not sure how long it would take to get something printed yet but I know it's not that bad.

Are the AC&I 0-8-0 tenders particularly subject to rot, or just yours? I have one missing a tender and have yet to run across one.

* All Aristo Craft die cast locos and tenders are suspect to corrosion. Not just mine! As to the 0-8-0's in particular . Every one I have, and there are 4, has a good loco body and frame, and all run. I only have 2 good tenders. The other 2 use mantua tenders.

Irony: the guy I bought mine from was back at the flea market today and lo and behold here's the tender loose in a plastic tub with some other stuff. Missing a step, trucks appear to have been changed out, and the paint's chipped up but otherwise intact. So now I have a complete engine.

Here is one that was owned and posted in the last year or so by Catfordken. Now he was nice enough to trade it to me. It is a new one locomotive. Boxed is identical to the Silvine B&O 25 but without and printing.
* If not for Ken I wouldn't have this one.
** It is new one B&O saddle tank locomotive #62. This loco has a completely different cast body, but the same identical drive.

And when it rains it pours. I found this new one locomotive at a recient train show.

Well here's another one. New One, Saddletank Locomotive, New Haven #60.

* This makes it three different New One 0-4-0t locomotives. All die-cast metal bodies, frames, and identical vertical shaft motors. The frame and drives are identical and interchangeable.

Again an all different die-cast body with the same identical drive.

* Well it seems we have reached a point here where New One locomotives have not lost interest, but no one seems to be finding them much anymore. When I look back one loco of interest sticks out and reminds me of others not posted here. This loco I speak of is a 4-6-0. Like the common B&O Royal Blue 4-6-0, which is to its right, it is also B&O and was posted in a photo on a shelf with seven other locomotives, all being new one but one a PRR M1A of a unknown maker. This the the B&O 4-6-0 # 2024 painted black I think to be a New One locomotive. This is a model of a specific 4-6-0 type have a well defined B&O look. It's cab and large boiler and unique tender is all B&O. It is the nicest one I have ever seen and regret not asking the poster "vancer" ( Ron for PA.) to post a seperate photo if possible in its box so we would know who released this engine. I have seen and have parts to the other large 4-6-0 Illinois Central that isn't posted here yet, or the 2 or 3, 4-4-2's not posted either, of which I have one complete one in decent shape which I will post soon. I think it to be a Bernie Paul's HOTCO Philly line loco, like the CNJ 4-6-0 camelback, and not one of the Aristo-Craft, AHC imported locos.

I guess for me this is how I get aristo-Craft locomotives now. One section at a time. At the train show 0n 3-30-19 I bought this locomotive only 4-6-0. The number 157 is that of a B&O 4-6-0.

I love seeing these early HO pieces. What year does this
come from, Frank?

Jeff the Frisco 2-8-2's are 1961-62 by catalog but were sold for a longer time past the mid 1960's

I just picked up an aristo craft 0-8-0 for $25. The motor runs but I'd like to see how the inside of one of yours looks. I think mine was messed with.

Mainly pics of the wiring setup (rails to motor) and how the worm gear looks and how the motor is mounted to the chassis, and if anything is in between. Mine has a plastic shim that im sure somebody put there, because when going in reverse, the worm gear does not engage in the drive gear.

I see top train has 3, and from what I can tell, he really likes aristo craft! Hoping for some help from you!

Got an aristo craft columbia yesterday. I'm restoring and repainting it, but the drivers now bind. They are in quarter. I think it's something with the rods, any ideas?

Alright I figured out that unless both wheels are on the track, it jams. Now I've got another strange issue. When I screw in the screw to hold the shell to the chassis, it shorts. I tried adding a plastic spacer, to no avail.

Yeah, I'm going to try adding more plastic spacers, or even substituting for a plastic screw. This loco is going to be another subject of a Blaxland repaint, but it's a surprise

This sounds great. I hope Frank checks in- he probably has one
of the largest known Aristocraft collections.

Time doesn't ever stand still. I am sorry I didn't make it here to the Aristocraft HO thread for another post till now. In Aristocraft in the last month and a half I got somethings. The first thing I got a month and a half ago is another snow blower. Had to start somewhere. after that a month ago another B&O Royal Blue 4-6-0 boxed, bringing my count up to three. Only two are boxed. At the Golden Nugget flea market last-Sunday I seen another 4-6-0 boxed Royal Blue for $50, I didn't buy. Nice Vintage trains are out there. After that a few weeks ago a C&O Mountain boxed, then a Rogers 2-6-0 Camden and Amboy, boxed. Most recently I got the last (fifth different) Rogers 2-6-0 Central Pacific. I need a box for it. That completes the 5 that were released, unless there is another-one I don't know about. I have C&EI, P&R, UP, C&A, CP.

Here are some pictures.

Very nice, toptrain. Those engines are classics. It must have been quite an experience riding them back in the 1800s.
