Railroad yard (roadbed)

I am planning a railroad yard. I know to lay ballast, but what I need to know is whether or not to lay a roadbed? I have seen layouts with and without on YouTube. Looking for suggestions.

| I don't believe a rr yard needs roadbed. But that's just my opinion and I hope others reply.

next time don't use the Event button for this hehe
Some use the Bachman E-Z Track for the roadbed or some use that cork stuffs under the tracks
