Anybody know a good website that sells tap sets with everything including the drill bits?

The place that I have found with the best taps and dies for the money is Microfasteners. (do a web search) They have very nice taps; a different style than what most places sell. Their style of taps work better when tapping metal. I also get my screws and X-acto type blades from them.

Another place to take a look at is KD. They sell little tap kits that contain the tap, the proper bit for doing the tapping and the bit that they call the "pass size". The pass size is the one that is just big enough for the screw to pass through. It's nice to have this pass bit when you are mating 2 parts together and want the screw to go through one of them and then thread into the other.

KD sells the 00-90, 0-80, 1-72 and the 2-56 that I am sure of. These are nice sizes to have on hand. Especially when dealing with steam engines occasionally. At lease have the 2-56 and the 1-72. The 1-72 fits the draft gear box screw on Bowser for sure.

One other size that's nice to have is the 3-48. This is the thread that is used by Atlas on their turnouts and their control boxes. If you have some of their screws laying around they work well when you reach a point on a certain model that the 2-56 hole has been stripped. You can run the 3-48 tap into the hole, then use one of the Atlas size screws to save the day.

If you buy some taps, don't forget to buy a nice pinvise or four. It's nice to have a handle with your most used taps ready at all times. Changing from one thing to the other is a pain.
