A Tyco loco for a change. This one came with hand rails from the factory all far as we can figure out and they're in the box.

catfordken, I'll see your Baldwins and raise you some Alcos

Awhile back I posted the lead unit, a Walthers Trainline I got on sale. I was so pleased I began looking for a B-unit to go with it. Found one on Ebay, but I it came with another A-unit. Eh so be it, 3 of them doesn't hurt! Only thing that sucks was they were advertised as being boxed most their lives. A-unit has a bit of shell damage, nothing major. And the couplers on the B-unit were mangled a little. But other than that they run alright.

Ahhh ! Being a Pennsy fan it is good to see Kenny and Chris posting the PRR workhorses. RF16's and FA1's were very bussy on the Pennsy. Very nice locomotives.
For this week here is one of my CNJ workhorses. A Alco RS4.

Just arrived in today's mail from eBay, a Roundhouse Powered Climax, un-built & undecorated. I popped one of the stack's on for the photo (there are 5 different stacks to choose from!)

I can hardly wait to get her built and decorated, but I have some tweaking to do on the drive line. It's a noisy lil' brute, geared extremely low.

I have two of those. If you find a way to quiet the drive line down let me know.

I did manage to quiet it down a little bit. I completely disassembled the drive line and removed all of the flashing and lubed everything. I gave the inside of the plastic body a light coat of Plasti Dip rubberized plastic to stop the body rattles. I may try covering the motor with 1/16" sheet foam and see if that hides some of that mechanical sound. I'm not sure what to do about the universal joints, which I think most of the noise is coming from. I'd like to come up with a better joint system there to reduce the noise and also increase the turning radius.

I love this ugly little thing despite the noise because it has great electrical pickup and can haul a serious load up a pretty steep grade.
