whoops! already posting and missed the intro section

so a bit about me, been in the army 23 years now and currently reside in california
I'm a big time history buff as in some of my off days I take off the digital grey uniform and put on some khakis, go down to the military museum in San pedro and do some volounteer work there (talk about a glutton for punishment)

when I'm not "reliving the 1940's or the 1970's" I'm working on my model trains, I don't think to this day I have ever taken a kit and completely butchered it to something different, almost %90 of my train collection was in some previous life a Tyco, AHM, Revell or some other older train set kit, that's just me.

besides, I love the look on someones face at my club seeing a mail pouch boxcar with no roofwalk, wire stirrups, body mounted couplers' etc. thinking it's a reissue and me telling them "no, its a Tyco that I spent a weekend fiddling around on" to them I am literally known as the mad scientist!

I have found with a little work (and $) on the cars I can turn out a real good quality unit at a decent impact on my wallet, plus if somehow it goes up missing at the club (which has happened a few times sadly) I don't go bannanas about it like I would with my brass 2-10-0 or my SPNG 4-6-0

so hopefully nobody lynches me here since I take a razor saw to stuff and so far I have recieved a pretty warm welcome, I plan when I come home here in 6 more months or so to show off some of my mad creations!

thanks for a wonderful site!

just me Ray... and just because I have Tyco doesn't mean I am not a model railroader

Just another nut in the Tyco Trail Mix bag - welcome to the Forum! Look forward to you actually posting some PHOTOS of your work later on, assuming you own a camera. Good to have you on board. Some of us don't mind hacking, either. I usually just hack cars that are pre-damaged, I rarely will upgrade something that is very nice. Just me. Anyway, Hi!
