Got a tip from an HO club buddy that a local Z scale guy wanted to sell his stuff....for $50. Hmm. So I called on Tuesday, and went by tonight, he had a 3' x 4' portable layout, a box of mixed American and German trains, Marklin and ? not sure yet, haven't unloaded it from the Jeep . yes, I bought it. Had one Marklin 0-6-0 engine, 8 or so freight rolling stock, some scenery buildings and automobiles, and a big box full of section Z track and switches. can't say I got burned on this deal! He was a Scout leader, his kids had outgrown it,and after 10 years, he just wanted to move on. the little layout needs some refurbing, but it's a two-loop set-up, done up really nice. I'll post pictures later. First I need to rebox everything out of the dusty, oversized cardboard they're in. Then I'll sort them out and take pictures. So that now gives me Z, N, TT, HO, 0-27, and G. A man of many scales. And master of none, but having loads of fun.

Here's a few pictures of the Z consist. Still can't believe the guy sold it all for $50.

And a closer shot of Marklin 8891 engine, a Pacific-based German engine, I think this is the post-war design.

Now I'll have to get ANOTHER 2' x 3' corkboard and mount the extra Z track to it so I'll have that along with my N gauge. I was hoping to put my TT on a corkboard as well, but the radius is too big, I may can add a special section to extend the shallower side some to allow it, have to cut the frame some to clear the track. Another project for another day.

...or use it on a G-scale layout as a mini-garden railway in one of the backyards of a house on the layout!
I have a Micro-Trains GP-9, a few cars, and a small board with some track on it. Fun little trains to play around with... a pain to clean and maintain, but fun novelties.
