I am posting this in hopes that mini park trains in your area don't experience this type of tragedy. This happened with in an hrs drive of me and I drove by this many times on my route years ago and the park and train were always crowded. This happened in Spartanburg County - Spartanburg SC - more than 15 were injured and one 6yr old died. ' http://www.wlos.com/shared/newsroom/top_stories/videos/wlos_vid_4156.shtml

well I knows Tiny Town in Colorado went through this as well but no one got killed I think it's about time the NTSB gets involved in regulating these Live Steam trains Especially track inspections & maintenance! This the 2nd one I've heard about

i agree with burlington77 regards why the issue over this posting, after all it is a model train, albeit a large one,it concerns all whose family may use them, and fore warns them over the dangers that occasionally albeit rarely occure,i am puzzled as to why romcat stated what he did regards it,yes this is a toy forum originally all about tyco, others came along with time,in my humble opinion, any listing about trains either real or toy has never been challenged before,so why now,and as this was a tragedy see no harm by it,ken ps todd has worked hard to achieve the status this forum holds, and i for one admire and respect him for it

Come on guys lighten up. I have been told that some of the things I posted are off colour but live and learn. If you don't like this type of thing don't read it. Over the 2 years I have got a lot form this forum so don't be so nit picking. I beleive everyone here is trying to promote the hobby . I would like to thank everyone for their help. Keep up the good work. Thanks. Ken

I never really thought something like this could cause so much harm. Most of the mini trains I've been on were relatively small/low speed though.....maybe this one was bigger Definitely sad.
In regards to the whole "Loose Ends" thing, I think a topic like this is fine. Most forums have a "talk about whatever you like as long as it's not politics, religion, etc,..." forum. "Loose Ends" is the closest thing the TCF has to that.

Thank you for posting that...it is a sobering reminder to those of us who get to haul families around in these things that the lives in each car are real and fragile. Fun is no reason to get stupid with the throttle...

Can't we all just get along?
All kidding aside I have not been here long enough to have an opinion that matters. I honestly thought loose ends was an open topic part of the forum.

I just wanted to clarify what I wrote here earlier. I was referring to the arguments that ensued not the topic matter itself.
Yes it was a tragedy.
Yes it's fine to post these stories. I think it is related to our interests.

Okay, I don't want to dredge this up again, but this is the best place to say this. I'm sorry for my response to this topic. I went ahead and deleted it. I should have expressed my thoughts in a more civilized manner, perhaps through a PM or at least not so viciously.
All that aside, I think about this tragedy now every time my kids get on any kind of train ride--you just never know what could happen.

This Is How Trains Are Deemed Unsafe. And You Know What. Train Crashes Are Rarer Than Plane Crashes. My Friend Is An Airplane Geek, And There Was A Plane Crash At An Airshow. Now When Do You Here About A N Scale Train Going Rouge And Crashing And Killing Modelers? Never. Yet Amtrak Cant Get Enough People To Rides. Even Though Trains Are Safer. Except When People Run Onto The Tracks And Commuter Dashing. Thats Another Way That Trains Get Bashed.
