I was in a LHS last week, twice, and on Friday, the proprietor said he still hadn't received any (HO) roadbed, and that he'd heard there was a material shortage ( ie, cork ) to make it. With the proliferation of cork-based flooring and other items, I'm wondering if this is the start of more expensive roadbed? I've seen some on Ebay, and may decided to buy some that way if I can't get any locally. Just wondered if anyone else has heard about this potential problem.

Well, I visited another LHS close to the first one that reported the shortage, and found 6 pieces of HO cork roadbed. Bought those and 6 pieces of Atlas code 100 flex-track. I'm making an 8' long T section with two main lines, and going to use it for my club's Module layout. I will have mountains instead of a backdrop and flat surface area, and mountains in the front, too, dropping to the floor. So at least I have the materials to continue my project.

You mean you've never heard of "burning rubber" ? Hot rodders do it all the time! Oh, that's on the output end, not input...sorry! Actually, that private spaceship, that that rich guy put into low orbit a few years ago, he was burning a solid rubber as fuel, I thought. Cork roadbed has rubber impregnated in it, so...let those Big Boys burn up the tracks!
