I got this at a train show in Michigan for a few bucks. Not sure how rare it is, but I haven't seen a single one on e-bay in the last sereral months that I have been conducting daily searches.

They turn up with some regularity, but not every day: too frequent to be rare, too infrequent to be common. It is a nice looking car though, and the CNJ marks are a nice touch.

I remember a few years ago someone on ebay sold an entire lot of about a dozen of these shells marked as factory defects with similar traits. Haven't seen any of those turn up since. Only thing I could tell wrong with them was the Tyco logo seemed a little blurry, but in every example I've ever seen (including my own) it's not exactly perfectly straight in the first place.

I've seen a real car like that one in real life. I'm a Missourian and have seen quite a few MPSX coal hoppers in the day.

Here's Reddy making another cameo, this time on one of IHC's releases of the (former) Tyco open quad-bay hopper:

I like this car quite a bit. It's a true relic: the slogan belies the lost pride in manufacturing and industry that this country would rather damn today.
