Looking forward to yet another train show in my area, this one about 30 miles south of me. Weather will be chilly but not harsh. Will be hoping to find more bargains at this show. Greenberg is hosting this show at the local Convention center.

Well, the event wasn't 100% full of vendors, but pretty much 95%. A few good things happened :
- I didn't overspend my budget
- I found some good deals
And a few not-so-good things happened :
- I didn't find anything for Microbuss on his wish list
- I didn't find any truly holy grails.
But, what I did find I liked. Some of my better bargains :
- KFC, built, with bucket sign, most roof spotlights intact - $10 - Alco C415 Dummy engine - $8 - Dummy RDC, good with no roadname, with extra shell, damaged - $10 - Soo line metal Mantua coal tender - $8 - Box of HO track from AF guy, Atlas track and rare AC Gilbert HO track, and 3 Tyco Switches, powered - $10 for all.
I found other deals at S gauge dealers as well, some HO cars for $2 each. One dealer I bought a Gilbert engine, basically a Varney chassis, motor trucks, and a metal gear cover with the Gilbert name stamped into it, no shell, for $20. Not a bargain, but the plate authenticates the engine as Gilbert, and not just Varney. Since I wanted a Gilbert engine, I paid the price. I have shells, chassis's like this, and maybe some trucks, but no Gilbert nameplate. Also, this same guy had not one, but three metal Tyco General steam loco's, in various colors, from $60-85 each. Too rich for me. But they all looked in very good condition.
FOund one Tyco Santa Fe crane car, $6.00. Not low enough, so I passed on it. Not much red box stuff, onesy-twosey, just a few I saw.
Added to my collection of Cox with a BN caboose. Also a Lifelike National Pipe dump car, the tyco-like side-dump is very fragile-looking . But at $2, I liked it. Found a few airplane flats, too.
A club buddy was there, selling his hand-crafted trees. Met one other club member there as well. I spent over 2 hours there, and bought enough stuff that made it worth the trip. I think the Varney/Gilbert engine chassis was the only powered one I bought. Still, a great day to be out at a train show. Visited with a few friends later in the day, one gave me a round Central Pacific wall clock they'd found at some thrift/bargains store. I gave him a couple '68 Dodge Dart diecast cars I'd found, he has a '71 he's building for the street.
I'll post some pictures ( here in this post )Sunday, too late now for me to feel like doing that. But very happy with my show finds.
