Hi All,
I recently found my old Tyco train set I received as a kid many moons ago. It has been unused for quite some time. After setting it up it did not run, but it has power to the track. I remember in my younger "how does it work" years I may have removed the wheels from the tender and may have gotten them reversed. I notice one side is a brass color and the other is a black color. How should they go? I figured I would start with the simple and abvious and go from there. Any lubrication, cleaning and maintenance tips would be greatly appreciated also. I am determined to get this running again!!!!

try reversing the wheels other way - Note- both brass wheels must be on same side of rail for loco to get power - There is a power pick up on the engine to - i believe your tender wheels should be to the right side when sat onto the track

Also, try bench testing your motor so you'll know for a fact your motor is good. Clean all your contacts with rubbing alcohol (wheels, contacts) I found a electric contact cleaner at a auto zone a good motor cleaner. Its safe with plastic. Lighting oil the bearing, axles and side rod pins. Then grease the gear really good. It also wouldn't hurt to scrub the gear with dawn soap and hot water to get rid of that 20+ year funk!
