I got this off e-bay.It looks like some parts are missing in the valve gears. The only markings I can find is Made In Macao. It looks like a well made unit with lots of detail. I would like to restore it if anyone can help me.
Thanks

I also need some gears for a Model Power GP-9 and can't seem to find them. I'm in Canada....the Niagara Penninsula. Do you have a good source for parts. Thanks

Here's a possible source - <mantua@modelpower.com>

I spoke to Micheal about purchasing some trucks for my Marx rolling stock, MOdel Power has the Marx molds now, or some of them. This guy may can help you pinpoint a source for your model power part needs as well for your GP-9. Can't hurt to email him and ask. Good luck!

I used to own one of those. It is Model Power. The front trucks are very light and tend to derail on switches that are not in optimal condition. I had an 0-4-0 that had the upper portion of the valve gear. The 0-6-0, like yours did not. The tenders needed to have weight added to them to keep them on track. To me this set of locos became more work than I wanted or the lack of potential I was finding.

It´s a German class 24 without wind deflectors and US tender. - Erich

That came out in the 1980s as some one-off odd brand, that and a European 0-4-0 were in the same line. Both of them the main axle gear would eventually slip loose. Notice it's been modified to be a tank loco - I don't know if it follows a German prototype or they did that to save from tooling one up. That's how it was originally sold, Model Power added the tender when they got the dies.

I think Model Power lost the rights to make a batch of things all at once and had to scramble to have something, resulting in these - previous to this, and digging up the Marx tooling, they'd sold the F3 and GP9 low-hood that came out of Cox's dies - the latter became a Walthers Trainline loco; parts are non-existant but Trainworld is selling the Model Power version for $12. For that price it's probably easier to just get another.
