I've noticed that the Athearn non-rotary ( blade type ) snow plow Hustlers seems to bring good money on Ebay. I found a just -listed set of THREE blades for Athearn Hustler engines for $8.50, so I did the BIN option. I don't have any of the push plow types, so since I have plenty of Switchers, figured why not buy the snowplow blades so I can convert at least one. Thought that was a pretty good deal, since I have the engines already.

The snowplow was an add on for Hustlers by 1960. The Lionel issue Rio Grande ones were the only ones sold with the plow attached (orange colored). They command high $$ on ebay and at trainshows being a rare release. The auctions for the undec plows appear off and on - I bought a set awhile back and fitted 3 different Hustlers with them. Larry

Yes they turn they are driven off the gear shaft by a rubber cone shaped piece and the housing is screwed into the body. the Lionel collectors book has the break down shown in it. By using the Lionel drive and the Athearn parts you can make a copy of them. The hard part is the rubber cone to drive the blade. I working on an all Athearn unit to see if some gear type mounted on the shaft will work
