Here's a very nice bunch of the old style Tyco slot car track but the price is outragous. This track is very unpopular due to the connecting tabs breaking off. I would by these pieces at a normal bidding priced auction. http://cgi.ebay.com/TYCO-S-SPEEDWAYS-HO-SCALE-SLOT-CAR-RACING-SET-TRACK-LOT-/380297339070?pt=Slot_Cars&hash=item588b7ce0be

Did you see the PRICES of the CARS in his other auctions? $600+ for a blue Pontiac!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (and 25 bids so far) Then again, the Seller is claiming they were the ones used in pictures of a Slot Car price guide, so they are special. I didn't see anything that would say the track is special. But this set of auctions is WAY outside my range. I'm not a collector to that extent. I sure would love to be the owner/seller, though!

Auction is in NY and seeing the prices make me believe this is the guy that has the MR CONEY website of slot cars, track etc. He has a lot of very nice cars & track, but all with insane prices on them... and has his own little ebay type auction site... I often wonder who the bidders really are....

What do you want to bet, he's hoping the unsuspecting will buy into the value he's put on it, and then if one comes up and sells for even a few hundred dollars, they'll think they stole it? LOL! Psychology at work! First you have to convince someone that it MAY be worth that much, then if they get it for 10% of that, they'll think they got a bargain. Aurora plastic 1/87 vehicles are hard to find, and sell for $20 or more sometimes, depending on car, color, etc, but obviously 3 grand is a bit off the sanity scale for any collector. Unless Elvis once owned it...then all bets are off.

I beLIEve I may be one of three people in the world who like the old style Tyco slot car track. I would like to have the straight track in the lot. I have well over 100 pieces of white dashed lined 9 inch straights with good tabs. 15 more NOS pieces wouldn't hurt, unless I was dumb enough to pay $250.00 for them!!

I should offer him $10 for that Aurora semi just for giggles. Walt, I always preferred the Aurora "Model Motoring" track from the 60's T-jet era. The pins and locks could be a nuisance, but the connections were rock-solid. One whack to the side and the AFX track (and the similar Tyco stuff) and like you said, the tabs snapped. Aurora even sold steel clips to hold broken sections together, and I used a lot of them.

I've thought the same thing about Jetfire Transformers sold NIB.
Perhaps there are folks just posing as other people to drive the price up.

Nelson- I agree. I believe the Old MM track is the best by far. I'm using the old style Tyco because of the rail crossings can be used in a bunch at one spot, and the intersections work with 4 lanes crossing a two lane. It took a long time to locate and buy a large bunch of track with good connecting tabs.

| Was all the Tyco race track interchageable? I have some from the mid 80s to mid 90's I've picked up at yard sales. I've always figured they never changed the connector style, but who knows... When I did research on Scalextric racing (1/32) I found they changed the track connectors maybe 10 years ago.

Tyco made the old style Slot Car track from 1963 - 77 (or about) then changed the design of the connecting ends. From that time on I am not sure if there was any other connecting changes. There are adapters to connect old to the newer track.
The old style track is fine other than the connecting tabs broke off if you little as looked at'em wrong...
I've got quite a collection of the old style track in nice condition after buying many lots and sorting the unbroken pieces out. I have many extra pieces to make up for those broken tabs that happen during assembly!

I think they changed the style every so often, but I'm not up-to-date on all the changes. But I'll bet there's 3 at least variations, if not more.

| Tyco new style is the same to present day Mattel. Mattel strengthened the design. The only thing to change would have been color.
