Hi Everyone,
I have a mystery part for my motors and I cant quite figure out where it came from or where it goes. I was watching this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zf6PmLuHqtU POWER TORQUE BREAKDOWN VIDEO_WMV V9.wmv carefully and I still cant figure out where the part goes.
I hope someone here can shed some light on this.
Thanks, Matthew

Hi Ken,
Thanks for the reply. That definitely looks like the part. Now, my follow up question is: are any wires soldered to it? It only looks like wires are soldered to the metal contacts on the lower left and center part of the motor.
Its most likely I over looked something again,
Thanks

Matt, I think that part is just a strain relief for the wire coming from the brush contact on certain PT trucks. It's held down with one of the top screws and traps the wire against the block.

Maybe that's the light bulb contact? Or holder? I know the wire is generally soldered to the bulb's end, and the base threads are in the curved part of a holder. Maybe that's it, maybe not.

| I've got nothing to add except that you get a good close shot at 0:58 in the video. Brian would know for sure.

| Is that off PT your working on? It actually looks like a brush holder from a MU type motor or from a open frame steam loco motor, minus the brush.

I just checked my one PT diesel, and it has one of these phosphor bronze clips. It's just a strain relief to prevent the bare wire from snapping where it's soldered to the brush contact. The wire is routed under it.
