Hi all,
Just joined, recently went to a model train museum that is here locally and became interested in my train.... only to realize all I had left was the golden eagle engine and caboose ;_; So I started looking for the set to see if I can find it again (as the engine has long been dead! ) I had originally bought the golden eagle set when I was 9 (yes in 1980) spent the whole summer working for it as my dad would not by it for me!
I have also become interested in redoing the motors of the tyco engines and have read a lot of your post about it.... very interesting! If I figure out what I am doing, I will try to post once I get there!
I also was big time into transformers (gen 1) still have some of those too! (prime, original megatron, omega supreme, jetfire, and my first one trailbreaker) etc etc... but do not find myself interested in the tyco transformer train (sorry) lol
any way hi all! later
P.S. There is a train show here in a week or two that I think I will go to...

Hi Griffton! Welcome to the forum from another Ohio member. This forum has some great guys with a lot of knowledge. I'm sure they can help you get that Eagle going and find the remander of the set!! The nice thing , there is still plenty of Tyco to find. I mainly do Ebay, as this removes the "searching" part for most train pieces. P.S. You mentioned the train show in Ohio, could I ask you where it is being held?

Welcome aboard. I recently did a motor job on a Tyco Alco 430 and while it wasn't a super quick job it wasn't impossible either. I swapped in a cd motor. It runs great now though I'm getting a new engine for my main power. I just really wanted to see that old Alco running again. All you need is an old cd walkman from a secondhand shop and a rotary tool and away you go.
