The wife and I are in Florida for the week, and I have made a few scores during the trip. On the way down on Monday,we stopped at a hobby shop along the Interstate, one in NC at Exit 49, he was very high priced on most of his stuff, but I did get a mint TYco Autoloader for $10 , in the box. After that we proceeded to Florida. Today, we did some running around, and we stopped at one on my list, Dana's Train Shop. Scored some good used Tyco cars for $2 each, got a Golden Eagle caboose in that lot. THey had quite a few fallen makers, they had a whole rack of pasenger cars, Rivarossi, IHC, Con-Cor, and other makes I"d never heard of. I got some passenger interiors, an aluminum observation car, and misc. other items. Nice shop, had N, HO, Lionel stuff, some new, quite a bit vintage. Worth a visit if you are in the Brookeville, FL area . Only train shop I'll be able to visit on this trip, unfortunately. But did have a good day, visited the Mermaid show place, it was closed. Visited a Gulf coast beach, not very worthwhile, but the water was warm, and we walked out up to our knees quite a few hundred feet. When Iget back home, I'll post pics of my "catch of the week".

Yes, especially since we take her vehicle everywhere! But she's pretty good about at least making a few stops for me. We even stopped at a yard sale Wednesday, because I wanted to. Bought a flare gun and a dual cigarette lighter power cord. She's great, for sure. Can't wait to get home and play with trains some more. But the 16 hour drive is brutal.

Time for some pictures! Had a GREAT time in sunny Florida, we were just north of Tampa on the west coast area. Few bugs, nice weather, got to sightsee some. Overall a wonderful experience. And THEN the train shopping! LOL. On the way down, we hit a hobby shop in North Carolina at exit 49, he's high on stuff, but I got a $10 mint Tyco autoloader car with the old cars. Cheaper than Ebay! The next and only other hobby shop I was able to visit, Dana's Railroad Supply in Spring Hill, FLorida, was great as well. Not a huge shop, but great diversity, well worth a visit for the vintage offerings they collect and resell. if you're in the area, visit his shop. So, on with the pics!

A plug for the hobby shop owner. Nice place! Loads of vintage stuff for sale.

3 nice cabooses, the Golden Eagle is nice, only some high-spot wear, not mint but nice. The Playart Fire caboose is sweet, since I'm collecting Playart HO now, probably a rare piece. $2 for each one. I like C&O, and didn't have this style, so it came home as well.

A nice sliding door Tyco BN boxcar, and two ROCO Gons with Kadee's, $4 each. I don't have any BN gons, so these will help fill out my BN consist with some more variety.

He only had two of these all-aluminum passenger cars by O.K. , I bought the Observation, and left the diner. $15. Nice vintage piece, even has the instructions in the box.

My North Carolina Interstate hobby shop score, the shop was high on most things, but got this for $10, totally mint, the camaro's and AMX's still have flashing on the wheels. Good price compared to Ebay.

An unloader accessory, not sure who's, no name imprinted on it. 99 cents.

Some interiors I bought, they had a stack of them, and more on the wall on pegs. I'm leery of buying these without seeing them first. I bought 5 interiors, 3 different types. Some I want to use on buses, others in my Tyco Silver Sausage Observation cars. Hopefully I can adapt the IHC pieces to the TYco Obs cars.
Well, that was it for this trip, I was pleased with my finds and purchases. Wish I'd had more money to buy more, but I got what I wanted and could afford, my first two criteria on this trip. Overall a very pleasant experience in Florida, wish I could have stayed longer. But I definitely feel more relaxed and happy ever after 16 hour drives down and back. Glad to be home now, though. So are the cats, they've been in lock-down since Monday morning. Time to unwind after the long trip, and share my finds with the Forum. Hope you enjoyed it. I did!

Nice finds! The auto loader and streamliner are cool. Does the auto loader only come with 3 cars?
I'm jealous of those interiors. All the hobby shops in my area are out of the IHC kits, and I'm pretty sure there are no more on the way The Tyco cars should look good with them. I've modified a few of the IHC kits to fit in Athearn cars, so I don't see why you'd have any problem with the Tycos

No, I just didn't pull the other 3 out from their hidden spots inside behind the cardboard.

Guess you can call this guy to see if he'll mail out orders. He had a stack of them on the shelf, for baggage, dining, etc. I just wanted the observation ones.

That's what I was hoping, too. I'll post when I try it out and get one done.

All the Life-Like cabooses I've seen are WM. C&O, B&O, and WM are the big three that made up the Chessie system. They all kept their own reporting marks.
You've found some nice stuff, AMC. Wish I'd stumble onto a good hobby shop. I also wish I had some of those Burlington gondolas for my all-Burlington consist.

Yes, I see that. Since WM was absorbed into CSX, makes sense. Actually, there were TWO of these cabooses there, the other one had yellow paint on each end of the cupola, but I liked the all-silver look myself, so I only got the one. Interesting variation.
Wish I'd had the extra $ for the other HO Streamliner, but with limited funds, I couldn't justify a car style I didn't want anyway. The observation I DID want. Maybe in a few months, I'll call them and see if they do mail order. Maybe.

Hi AMC! Are you going to paint the interiors before you install them? I have some IHC ones but was unimpressed by the colour schemes IHC chose. Mind you, I have no idea what colours would be best and Railfan photo sites rarely feature the inside of trains!

Heck, no, that was 2010! Almost a year ago. I've been back in Virginia since. Seems some people like dragging up old posts again after so long. wouldn't mind going back when I can get in the water, though. Too bad my finances are still too low to do vacations AWAY from home still.
