Does anyone know of a company that makes metal wheels which will fit on the Riv/AHM/IHC streamliners? I have a package of True Line '33" Smooth Wheels', but the diameter doesn't look big enough Are the original wheels just oversized, or are these freight car wheels that I have?

| Generally 33" are freight and 36" are passenger.

Not sure if this company sells just the wheels without the trucks, but I bought several truck pairs from the Bowser headquarters in Montoursville, PA this year. Here's the website link :
http://www.bethlehemcarworks.com/Products/Kit_Bits/index.html
I bought trucks for my Walthers/ IHC passenger cars , which used to use Central Valley trucks, but I'm not paying over $20 per pair on Ebay for those! So these are $11 and up, but I figured I'd try them. I bought 4 and 6 wheel trucks from Bethlehem. See if they have anything you can use for your passenger cars.

Gotcha. That's what I figured...I remember trying to put some on my Athearn pass cars, and the wheels were much too small.
Thanks for the link Jerry. I don't see any individual wheel sets. I guess I'll check Ebay and see what comes up for 36" wheels. I seem to remember my LHS having some IHC trucks for sale...maybe they have wheels too. I guess I'll check next time I'm there.

A quick ebay search turned up several different 36" wheel sets by various manufacturers. I can get three cars worth of wheels for about $10 from Walthers or Kadee. I doubt I'd have any problem fitting them on an IHC truck

| Check Bower's website as they have some AHM/Rivarossi parts. Be forewarned as they have HORRIBLE customer service. They charged a firends CC two months ago and have yet to send the parts to him.

AF,
Not to dump on them, but I couldn't agree with you more about Bowser, and it surprised me because they have such a good reputation. I put in 2 orders, the first, they only shipped half of the parts, so I had to call a week later and ask them where they were. The CS person said that they had forgotten to ship them, and had the package sitting right there. No real explanation, but I received the balance of my order in a few days. For my second order, they shipped a detail kit in a fragile plastic case with a heavy chassis weight directly on top of it, and then padded the rest of the box with brown paper, which is a rookie eBay shipping mistake at best. The case for the detail kit was shattered by the weight, and it was a miracle that none of the plastic parts inside were damaged.
When I called to complain, the guy I spoke to eventually sent me out another detail kit, plus some extra parts I'd wanted to order for free. They made good on it, but I don't think I'll be ordering from them again.
I don't think Cheez would want the original Rivarossi wheels anyway, since they have pizza cutter flanges. Cheez, you might have to trim the brake shoes on the trucks to get the replacement wheels to fit, because the RR wheels are actually undersized.

Do you know if the wheels on the later IHC releases are the same story? I'm looking to upgrade my CN fleet, and for the most part it looks like only the IHC cars need new wheels. All the Riv cars already have metal wheels....they just need some weight

I made a quick trip to my LHS today. They had packages of Walther Proto 2000 36" wheel sets for $10 so I bought a pack. When I tried installing them on my IHC cars I found that the wheels were much too big. Alright...so I guess the IHC cars do use 33" wheels. I tried installing the 33" wheel sets again and guess what...the axles are too large. FFFFFFFFFFFFF. So I'm guessing IHC doesn't used standard sized axles or wheels. Lovely...
On the bright side though, the 36" wheelsets fit on my Athearn heavyweights
