About a month ago, I visited a local Flea market, and bought a neat ball radio with 8-track player, the guy was cleaning out his house to move. Anyway, I asked if he had any trains, and he did. I just went to see what he had today, and he had both HO and N gauge items. Most of the HO was Tyco, which I told him wasn't very collectible. But he had Aurora N gauge accessories, a Rapido German N gauge set in plastic box, a Bachmann N gauge set in plastic box, missing engine, a cigar box of loose N gauge, cigar box of N track, and misc. With the German Rapido set, I offered him $100 for the box lot, and he said yes. He also had some R/C airplanes, and vintage plastic airplane kits, some static, some useable for R/C as well. I only took pics of what I bought, though.
The guy has a neat history, he grew up in Germany, his Dad had a collection of Hitler books from the '30's, an SS helmet ( AUTHENTIC ), several other German military hats, etc, and photos. He's got black and white photos of Dachau, the Jewish concentration camp. Wow. Right after the war, or some years after. Pretty interesting family history! Anyway, I got some of it, some B&W photos of old German cars, German sites, etc. He was throwing out hundreds of duplicates.
But, continuing on, here's some pics of what I got for my $170 today, $100 for trains, $70 for the two R/C gas airplane engines. Thought I did ok.

I got so much, I couldn't hardly squeeze it all in this photo.

Here's all the Tyco stuff I got, and my first Chat 638, in a box WITH smoke-in-a-bottle! Woo-hoo! Choo-choo!

Here's all the N gauge I got, I think what I spent was worth what I got just for N alone! And one piece I really love, the UA Turbotrain! Sadly, only one piece, and the non-powered one at that. Made by Bachmann. Still, will make a good static display.

Here's some Aurora N gauge accessories, Postage Stamp series. Looks like they're all there.

Here's the R/C engines I bought, both I"m sure are old, '50's maybe. I'll have to research them.

I'll be posting more Sunday, in the COTW , AOTW, and LOTW columns. Just giving you a taste of my good fortune today. Guy has more stuff, I will probably go to his auction in December, and see what else I can buy. He has 3 cases of Hotwheels/Lesney stuff, some beat up, some vintage. Nothing I couldn't live without today. Next paycheck, may be a different story.

No, I'll keep them, as I'm going "dual gauge", as I like having N around, and will do something with it as well as my HO. So for now, they're keepers.

Boxed Tyco is always a good find.

The R/C engines maybe worth some good $'s.

I will ask one of my friends who is into that stuff and get back to you.
