Finally able to piece this all together. I have the green boxes for the cars but they aren't labeled for anything. Haven't cleaned any of this up yet, I usually do cleaning in large batches. I'm going to get the rails and a coupler for the engine off a more common one to make this complete.

Now that is officially awesome. Those industrial switchers are as cute as pye and the Silverama box car is totally drool worthy. Does the little giant still run, NYC?
I'll have my own silver set to show by the end of the week, with luck. Not quite as much Tyco cred as the RCA set but it should be also kinda cool. Watch this space...

Nice find NYC, I got the other caboose he had. Just FYI those should be in blue boxes, not the green ones. The Plymouth model was not released until right around the time of the blue -> red box transition, so green ones were well in the past by then. Besides, the roof-print Silverama on the boxcar looks great in the wrapover bluebox window. (BTW, there is a variant of that car without roof printing).
The only promo set I know of that should be in green boxes is the early unobtanium Star-Kist one. I have one of the boxcars, but the box was not labeled.

I'm color blind, I think those are blue boxes now that I look at them. For some reason I thought they were green. See the boxes in the background, blue?
Oh, and welcome back.

quote: Busss, you're such a bowerbird! And you're right, the whole set is splendid but the box car is the biz. As spiderj76 pointed out, it has roofprint which means you can see it from space!

SOTW for me is my latest IHC pack, The Congressional:
It was a tough decision between this GG-1 hauled famous train and the more representative tuscan Pennsylvanian but Rico Station sealed the deal. And although eight passenger cars are probably more than I'll ever run at once, it allows a mix 'n match consist depending on demand... or at least my mood! The extra pack of catenary wire was a nice bonus for what in total is, a very neat set. 5 stars from the GG-1 nut.
The eclectic roster I've dreamed of is finally coming together. So cool, it's smokin'!

Wow, that crossover signal bridge is pure Tyco - just with a different logo on the box. It's amusing to see the old models re-emerge under a different brand. Too bad IHC had to call it quits, too. It just doesn't pay to manufacture and sell 'toy' trains. Lest anyone become offended, I'll change the phrase to 'enry-level model' trains. I think we can all appreciate the accessible nature of Tyco back in the day. It was truly a lot of modeling fun for the $$$. And I'm nothing but a great big, middle-aged kid! -TK

Hi TK! The old structure kits look awesome under any name and since I'm no collector, the packaging doesn't concern me. Some folks like cheap and colourful models while others prefer super detailed, photorealistic toy trains and that's cool to. I'm all for both and like to think our hobby can be as big and welcoming as we want it to be!
