Hope to see some of the members "old toys" that you may have to post in this thread. No full size cars & trucks or that kind of stuff. Lets stick with actual old toys of the past that isn't model train related. Like this;
Here is my 1958 Superior Gas Station (Tin Toy) that is like new and complete down to the small yellow oil sign. This was a Christmas present from my sister back in 2005... I hope she goes toy shopping for me again this year!!!

Awesome service station!
The only question I have about this is "how old is old?" I've got many, many toys from the 80's, some from the 70's, and a few from before that. I'm up for anything, but I'm not sure how far everyone wants to stray on a train-related message board.

Post whatever you wish Burlington! I'd like to see what toys we come up with here from any era. Myself, I enjoy alot of different older toys from the Matchbox, Husky & Corgi cars we used on our Tyco layouts to the old Chien tin roller coasters I had as a kid in the 1960s!
I know "toys" are a bit off the model train topic but, we've had Cars, trucks, Gremlins, hot tubs, dumpsters & wemon pictured on here!! So what's a thread of old toys gonna hurt..

Hi All,
Not to many old toys posted so far, so I thought I would post this old fire truck. This is not the one I had as a kid, but it looks just like it. I had it in the late 60's early 70's I think. It is about 8.5X3.5X3.5. I remember we also had a red Fire chief car and a blue police chief car. Think they may have been late 60's mustangs. This fire truck was given to me by a guy in Chicago a few years ago. It was on a top shelf half covered with junk. I asked if I could take a look at it and when he saw my excitement he said I could have it. What a guy!
I hope this fits the bill for old toys.

Nice MrTyco! That looks to be an old truck made by, The GAY Toy Company. Also sounds like the maker of the 1966 Mustangs that you mentioned!
The GAY Toy Co. made some neat cars & trucks etc, in several different sizes... I have a smaller GAY Toy's Ford Bronco of the 60s era.

Don't say I didn't warn you. Here's a sample of what I've got. I'm actually in the process of downsizing and packing things away to make room for another kid. I'm not a fan of the word "vintage" but I'll use it here to describe what's old (1970's-80's) and what's new
Here's a mix of newer and vintage Star Wars. Vintage Death Star in the corner is a favorite, as well as the vintage Imperial Shuttle, Imperial Transport, and AT-AT:
More Star Wars, top two shelves and glasses are vintage:
Masters of the Universe and GI Joe, all 1980's:
More MOTU and GI Joe, with a lot of randomness on the lower shelves. Basically, if you name an action figure line from the 80's, it's on those shelves:
Here's a classic-- A Planet of the Apes coin bank. It's a couple feet tall, plastic. I've had it for years. Nevermind my big foot:
Micronauts, RoboForce, more Star Wars and some modern kid stuff:
A wall of newer figures, plus a Yoda movie display decorated with a vintage hat and shirt:

I've been a toy collector for a LONG time. Basically my whole life. As you can see from the garage sale report thread, I know how to find a bargain. There's more, maybe I'll post more if anyone's interested.

I have an old Gilbert Erector set #8 1/2,that was made in the 30's. This is the set that makes the HUGE Ferris Wheel, and I did build the Ferris wheel a few years ago,and what took me 2 weeks to build, only took 30 minutes to disassemble. I bought this off the origional owner at a yard sale, they were moving to Florida, and said he'd rather sell it to someone who will take care of it,and play with it,well that's me,Mr. I refuse to grow up. This a pic of the 1st issue Remco Bulldog Tank. I have every variation of these now. One of my favorite toys as a kid
I also have all of the variations of the Robot Commado's.

These tanks were wrecks I bought on Ebay and restored. I replace the broken MG barrels with 3/16" brass rod. I made the battery compartment contacts from a brass sheet.

I love the Remco tanks, AF. I had one in the 70's that had a modified firing mechanism that was only a noisemaker, but had fired projectiles in the original version. I don't think mine had the upper idler wheels, IIRC. Weak plastic pins that held the rear axle in place finally did it in. I made epoxy repairs many times, but it was finally beyond my skill level at that age. I remember it would climb over anything.

This is a toy called Mister Machine. Made by Ideal co. 1960s-70s. I have one of these in near perfect condition. But, this guy here was saved from the Trash.. About 10 years ago, The Toy was being offered at a flea market for $25 and the seller said if he did not sell it, it was going in the trash. He had some issues but, he stilled looked OK. So, I went back just before I was going to leave and I got him for $7. And he still works. The whistling unit still makes sound and he still runs around.. sometimes he Just goes in Circles.
There were A few different versions over the years, this one is an later Model . Does not come apart and has a whistle that plays this old man instead of a bell. Carl

Thank You, Mike MrTyco for the nice comments on the Matchbox collection. These cars are all "never played with" in basically new condition.
Nice VWs, Ken. I am a big fan of the pre 1967 VW 23 window busses.... If my invention sells as i plan, I will buy the best old restored ceiling red/ gray beige 23 window bus that I can find..
VintageHO, I don't remember Mr Machine but he is certainly a cool old toy!! Sometimes he just goes in circles?? Sounds like our model trains!!

This Ideal Motorific set replaces this exact set that I got for Christmas when I was 7 years old. It's the 1967 Wildcat set. I even made sure to get the same car in the same color. In our childhood photo album, I have two Christmas 1967 photo's of this and one of them is when I first seen this set! I was thrilled... I have no access to those photos right now or I would have posted it...

I came along a little too late for MR. Machine, but I had one of those locomotives. I don't remember what happened to it, but I'm guessing I took it apart and lost the gears.

Here's one of my childhood favorites. From the Kenner SSP line this is the "Laker Special". My original Laker was a maroon color. I bought this one in it's palce. I'll some day get the maroon one... Not sure why my x wife sent this photo with the car that looks to be upside down in it's box...

I love that picture, Microbusss! It's like an I SPY or Where's Waldo book. What's up with the salt and pepper in the lower left corner? If that's you're kitchen, I'm coming over for dinner. We can listen to that Jackyl tape.
The IDEAL Mr. Machine is something I've been wanting. I've seen a couple over the years at flea markets, but they always cost more than I wanted to pay. I want the train even more. My grandfather had two of them that we played with for years, but I have no idea what happened to them.
The Kenner SSP reminds me of some vehicles I have. If I remember right, they're called Air Jammers. I have a motorcycle and a dune buggy that you pump up with a miniature bicycle pump, then let them go and they run. I'll have to dig them out and take pictures.

Hi All,
Walt: I remember the SSP's. The SSP's I had had parts that would fly off when they hit.
Does anyone remember back in the late 60's early 70's someone put out a CARBOAT, It was plastic and about 2 feet long, the boat would slide in and out of the car body. It looked kind of like a dragster. It came in different colors like red/blue or blue/red and others. If anyone has one or knows of a picture online that would be cool to see. I got 4 or 5 of these for Christmas from different family members one year, LOL.

I've got 3 Atari 2600's myself. Nowadays you can get every game ever made and an emulator to play them on your computer.
Here's more of my mess. First, some random things I found at my Mom's house today, then more of my "organized" collection.
Here's a robotic arm from Radio Shack:

An old Hubley truck:

Cars:

A box of plastic space men:

Lesney Models of Yesteryear. I haven't really researched these yet. They came with some trains.

Random 80's stuff:

I love Tootsietoy cars:

Blackstar:

80's variety:

More 80's variety:

Wheeled Warriors and still more 80's variety:

I've also got quite a collection of 1970-80s Fisher Price Little People, because my daughter loves them. She plays with them more than the modern ones.

Really nice toys you guys are showing! I finally got this thing to post a couple of pictures for me. The first picture is Tootsietoy and Midgetoy cars and trucks, I have lots more, but these are some of my favorites. I really like the police and fire cars. The second picture is a few of my Lesney regular wheels. I Love them!
Thanks for looking

| I love that tow truck! The best part is the name--"Holmes Wrecker" as in "homewrecker"! What a pun. In case our foreign friends don't get it, a "homewrecker" is a woman who has an affair with a married man, thus "wrecking" his home.

That's a good one Burlington! I believe that "Holmes" was or still may be a manufacturer of wrecker boom assemblies or some connection in building wreckers.
So to be a "homes wrecker", does this also require a HOSeeker??

Did some say they like Tootsietoys? Well here's a bunch the 2 in the background are the big ones before TT "shrank" them
Midgetoys! The police car & flatbed are unknown But The Jaguar is a Marx!
More TT "shrinkage" & finally after TT started to make the cars in HK/China
Also a few of those are made by Zee Toys

I'm still waiting for someone to post a photo of that "carboat!" I had one when I was a kid, and forgot all about it until this forum! I think it was red and blue and the boat slid into the car frame.
I had the "SST" cars, too! A blue and green Nomad and an orange and purple something and when they went up the black ramps and jumped and smashed into each other, all the doors, wheels, trunks and hoods flew off.

59Chevy, I too, had the "Demolishon Derby" set with the Nomad & the 57 Ford. This set had the ramps and the cars would hit in mid air if timed right!

Those were good days with good toys!
Among my favorite toys were Matchobx, Corgi and Hotwheels cars, the SSP cars, a sub and battlship that the battlship blew apart when hit by the sub's torpedo, a helicoptor on a wire that you could fly to pick up an astronaut space capsule, Lincoln Logs, Lite Brite, Legos, Tonka trucks and a red and blue parking garage for Matchbox cars. I will post a picture of this someday. And my Arco Noah's Ark! I'll post a photo of that too someday. This is a neat thread. I remember I had a Talgo train and thought it was a boat! And I had a few Hess trucks that I would spin around by the cabs to watch the lights! Wish I could go back....

Hi All,
Microbuss, The red police/fire cheif car is a midgetoy made in Rockford IL. It should be stamped on the roof inside.
The picture below is the #32 E Type lesney regular wheels that Walt wrote about. This one has been repainted.

Yes, 59Chevy... Those were the days when we had no worries... maybe other than where our next toy will come from My collection is just that, it's the nearest thing I can find to going back in time... Sometimes for just a moment, I think I'm even there...
Mike, I love the Matchbox #32 Jag! You have the version with the spoke wheels there! Not all of them come with spokes.. I need to pick up a nice boxed one to add to my collection. I had several of these Jags as a kid
