Hello Everyone,
Just wondering if there were any other carpet runners here.
I have no permanent layout right now (haven't for a few years) so I use Kato Unitrack set up in a large loop around my living room when I get the urge to run some trains.
Due to the built in roadbed I don't have to worry about carpet fibers getting in gears, and don't get oil or grease slinging onto the carpet.
The Kato track is really easy to work with (a little expensive though) and looks great, and I also use this track for my n scale too.
I decided to use the wide radius curves so I can run longer trains, and locomotives, plus the trains look so muck better on wide curves.
Being that the track is metric radius I believe that the radius equals to about a 24 degree curve.
Anyway enough about me,how about you? Do you have a carpet central railroad?

I do that with Bachmann EZ Track & Life-Like Power-Loc trac Helps that Life-Like makes a adapter trck so you can use both at the same time Also cheaper on a budget When loose tracks are $1-$5 depending on what shop or shows you go to

No, I "aired out" my railroad, I installed a 4' x 4' plywood section over my stairwell to upstairs ( wasted space ), so I can test and run trains in a circle at least. I keep some of my projects on it in a old metal office-type horizontal letter tray. They're strong enough to hold multiple engines in each tray without buckling. This is the old '70's type flesh-colored tray, ugh it's U-G-L-Y! But it works. I was going to throw the tray out, then as I walked by the test track, with all my projects spread out over it covering even the tracks, I said Hmmm....NOW I have a place for it! Of course, NOW I have diecast CARS covering it. Time to clean it off again. LOL.

A few years ago I remember setting up a large loop of track in my living room out of spare brass track. The cat was more of an issue than the carpet.

I've got some EZ track that I occasionally use, but mostly my "carpet running" is with my Lionel FasTrack.
