Today's garage sale lot turned up some neat old stuff, as well as some very clean newer items. Here's a few I have questions about:

1. The loco is labeled Rivarossi made in Italy on the motor. I'm familiar with them, but I can't seem to find much info about this exact locomotive. Could someone point me in the right direction? Also maybe point me towards finding a reasonable (cheap) tender to go with it? Also missing the boiler plate. Otherwise, I tested it with a rigged-up trailing truck and it runs decent.

Any info about these would be appreciated:

2. Gray bunk car-- no marks, sprung trucks.

3. Diamond chemical tanker--heavy metal chassis, couplers are riveted in place. Mantua?

4. Wabash caboose--no mark, sprung trucks, not familiar to me.

5. Yellow gondola w/containers--only mark says "made in Taiwan. Do the containers actually go with it? They're labeled for MoPac. The underside of the gondola arches down more than most.

This lot was a real mixed back. I got rolling stock from Revell, Varney, Gilbert, and the usual suspects. More sprung trucks than I've ever had! Thanks in advance for any help.

The bunk car looks to be Revell or early Train Miniature.

I asked about the containers once too but the one I asked seems to have vanished & I don't believe that is the right gondola for it

Shaygetz--I think you're right on about the train miniature. I looked it up on Tony's site. It's not exactly what he has on there, but I could see where it would be an early version.

MB--I doubted the gondola too, but they fit well. Either way, I still don't know who made the gondola.

Here's another one---I'll post a picture later if I need to---basically, it's a very large flatcar with two holes in the floor like something would have snapped into it. The marking is CTC Hong Kong. It's noticeably big, and it's painted UP yellow, with a sloppy bare white plastic patch on the underside.

The UP gondola was made by Life Like in the early 70's,and did come with the containers shown in your photo.
The tank car is a Mantua, you'll have to check Tony's resourse to find the years it was made.
The loco is a Rivarossi Hudson, you should be able to find one on Ebay fairly cheap.
As for the caboose,I'm not sure,it might be an Athearn,or Lionel.

Thanks, Chooch. I just had a "duh" moment. As soon as I googled "rivarossi hudson" I realized that I had been searching for a 4-8-4 instead of a 4-6-4. Guess I need to learn to count.

Nice find, Ben. Interesting that they only made the containers in MoPac, but the gondola was UP and Pennsy.

Nobody have any idea about the CTC Hong Kong car I mentioned? I'll have to go get a picture.

Sorry, cmgnnut, I'm going to hang on to that one.

Microbusss....I posted this in another thread, don't know if you saw it. The containers fit all of my Life-Like, Roco, and Bachmann gondolas. Shouldn't be too hard to find one of those.
