In 1998 the Hess company relesed their first Minature trucks. This one and most of the others to date are close the HO scale. These like there Christmass time releases were lighted by battery power. The first release in 1998 was a all white in color 18 wheeler Tank truck. The following year 1999 the Shop Rite company released almost the same truck with there name on it. Though they apear the same there were a few differencs. I wish that Shop Rite had continued making them also. frank

A look from the rear. Also from the side. In this view distorsion from the camers lense makes the trucks look different sizes. They are in fact the same length.

Here is the other Shop Rite truck of 1999. It is a 18 wheel tractor trailer. The tank car was released a second time in 2005 by Shop Rite with a different paint skeem.

Excellent photos in the dark, VintageHO, thanks for setting that up. I was interested to see how much light bleed there was on the trucks but they come out okay. Might try adding lights to some of my own trucks using LED's. I think it's a great look and sure beats Nite Glow!

This is this years 2010 minature truck. A articulated hook and ladder truck. Also like all the other Hess trucks with lights. I am not posting any photos of any cars or trucks that wount fit on a HO layout. That includes some of the so called Hess minatures like the 2000 first tank truck,2003 patrol car,2005 helocopter,2007 rescue truck, and 2008 Recreation Vehicle. All are to big. frank

The problem with the race car carrier is that the TRUCK is HO scale, but the CAR is not. It's too big compared to the truck. But still, a nice piece.

Hi All,
I had some Hess trucks when I was a kid. I really liked them.
Brianstyco, I collect diecast as well, but only the Matchbox size. They go better with my layout and are much less expensive than the large size diecast. I am particularly fond of police cars and trucks. It looks like your LTD is in great shape.
Here are a few of mine.
Hope you all enjoy
