I have a Baby Ruth chug chug (for better description) car.
I won't run it.
BUT has any one ever thought to convert it to a track cleaner?.
Instead of the drive rubber band attach a polishing/ cleaning material. and create a slight drag on the wheel.
Need to cut open the drum to remove the steel shot or whatever makes the noise

Um , Derf...it IS a track-cleaning car, as IS. That's what it does, the steel shot makes it jerk some when turning, so it cleans the track with the rubber band material. Not saying it's the BEST one, but I've used the Purina car version last month on my club layout. The rubbery material is supposed to pick up junk off the track, I guess. It's not just a noise-making car.

| well I'll 'be changing the rubber band to something else more effective and definately replace the shot with a multi faced weight that will give some resistance to turning

No, I thought there was one more, like Gerber. Just saw one on Ebay recently that wasn't a Purina, but I forget which one. I didn't think it was baby ruth, though. Could be mistaken.
