Here's two engine chassis's, one's complete and turns over, has a flat can in it. The other is just a zinc chassis, missing engine, trucks and internal parts. Never seen anything like this one, looked thru HoSeeker, but couldn't match it to anything this morning. Anyone know what it is? Motor is binding some, no grease to speak of on the gears or plastic universal joints. Doesn't look like anything I've seen before.

No shell came with these chassis's, either, so not sure what will fit them. Seem to be of quality build. No zinc rot that I see, either.

Hi Jerry,
That's the AHM FT, which was made for them by Kader (Bachmann). It's built just like a Minitrix N scale diesel, with the same pickup/wiper arrangement, and the pins holding on the trucks.

I don't know about that Mystery Machine paint job, but I'm guessing it isn't original. Both of mine have black frames.

Ok, so it's a half-breed, an AHM made by Bachmann? Strange. Guess I didn't delve deep enough into HOSeeker, I did briefly look at AHM, but didn't recall anything like that, so didn't search all the engines. Thanks for the "pin" point .

Here is the Bachmann Setup used on the Autotrain Engine. You can see the purple trucks. that was used on the Auto train U33B. Carl

Yep. They also made an 0-6-0 side-tanker for AHM, and it was also built like an N scale steamer with all the axles geared. I don't think either the FT or 0-6-0 were produced for too many years.

That's the same drive Bachmann used for their 0-6-0 Saddle Tank loco from the early 70's. None of these locos seemed to come from the factory with any lubrication on the gearing, so greasing them improves performance.
I remotored my FT and replaced the universal couplings with silicone tubing, and it's much quieter now.
Eric... I like your loco's purple shoes.
