I forget how much they were, I'm thinking $8-$9, it's perfect size for HO.

I got one of those last year, it was $7 and change. I got the Ford Trimotor too. Haven't built them yet, because it will be hard to sore them when assembled.
HO-scale planes take up a LOT of space on a layout. To hang them above, they should actually be smaller for the illusion of forced perspective.
But they are VERY cool.

And imagine when Tycotown is invaded by this! 1/72 scale (heck, it's alien, who cares) and has a 28" diameter. I'm not sure how many of you get into modeling outside of railroading but Polar Lights (aka Aurora) made some incredible kits.
I actually wrote a paper in college about this movie, quite interesting themes going on.

I think Walthers used the molds a few years ago...as there were 4 or 5 of 'em available under the Walthers name.
If anyone models '47 through '60, this will do the trick...be it cut in half, with the tail sticking out of a shallow hangar, or taxiing at the end of a flight line, complete with led's on the wingtips and a strobe on the tail, waiting for takeoff into the HO horizon.
I bought the Forbidden Planet DVD just before Christmas, along with The Time Machine, War of the Worlds (original), and The Day The Earth Stood Still. I also bought my wife the 1st season of Star Trek (original series '66-'70) 10 DVD set, too. We were on an old-school sci-fi tear.
24 hours of commercial-free Star Trek since December 25th. Two episodes a night, right after the news....with a tub of Chex Party Mix, and an ice cold Coca-Cola. It doesn't get any better than that.

Sounds Excellent! We did Drive-In Movies over Thanksgiving this past year..."Tarantula"..."This Island Earth"..."Godzilla Vs. The Thing"...can't get enough of great '50s-'70s Sci-Fi movies.
Just watched "The Omega Man" with Charlton Heston last night...what a classic! [}:)]
