Help i am trying to sell the whole set of 1977 Chattanooga train set by Tyco, has track all cars and all are new in box. But i can't find a value for anything this well preserved? Can some one here please help me come up with a fair price. I need to sell ASAP, but it is hard to do with no info. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,
Buddy
I can supply pics if that would help. It is driving me crazy trying to get the info myself.

Hi budman1015 - You have one of the more desirable Chattanooga sets. This one should smoke since it is 1977. If you are looking to list on Ebay - I would say a good starting price of around $40.-50.00 wouldn't be too bad if mint in box. Mint with sealed plastic or is it mint plastic removed? It is going to cost around $20.00 or a little higher to ship due to the size of box also. Remember though - price can vary on ebay too. It is really hard to put a value on Tyco as it varies widely depending on what it is from Tyco. There are some Tyco pieces that can fetch over a hundered dollars and others pennies on the dollar. Depends on who is really looking for that particular item. i hope this helps some. I have seen these sets go as high as $140.00 and more

P.S - if it the diesel locomotive Chattanooga set - you might be lucky to get $20.00 - not as desired

Is this a Chatanooga Diesel engine or Steam Locomotive and Tender engine. I would be interested if Steam Locomotive in good running condition and smokes. I recently purchased a Chatanooga Diesel set for net $60 complete on eBay if this helps. It listed higher but seller refunded some $$ since engine was not in top running condition.

I almost picked up the diesel Chatanooga w/ caboose at a train show last weekend. I walked away and thought "I'll come back and get that later." Sure enough, it was gone.

Yup, that happens frequently. I've learned, if you have been wanting something, and you find it, make the decision and get it. Many times there's no second chance. I've had my share of "ah wells" too.

Yep, I usually live by that idea. The only reason I hesitated is that I didn't want it THAT bad and I was trying not to overspend. I'm sure I'll find another one.

You can use any liquid smoke for model trains - Life-like smoke works good in Tyco - Sluethe makes model smoke as well as model power and Vollmer. Available online or at your local hobby store and Ebay - On occasion - you can find original Tyco smoke on Ebay -price varies

we just got another one in on consignment, but it is a Marx, you can check it out at www.waverlyhouseauctions.com/ It looks pretty old to me. We also get the transformers for old trains too.
