Well, since no one has started the next LOTW, here goes. This is a Burlington Northern EMD F45 number 6615. It was made by Athearn. This particular one I really like because it was my father's and sat on his desk for years at work back in the 1980s. When he started his own business, one of his early clients was Burlington Northern. As a thank-you for his work on a project they gave him this engine. It isn't as shiny as the day he got it but I think it is an interesting engine with an interesting family story. I'm going to remove it from the block and use it as a dummy on the layout once that project is more underway.

my fav of the mo was a loco sent to me by forum member,a marklin 2-8-2, i loved the movie von ryans express ken
In the book, Ryan survives and makes it into Switzerland with the other prisoners. At the novel's end, he bursts into laughter when he discovers that the words "VON RYAN'S EXPRESS" have been painted by one of the prisoners on the outside of the train. (The movie does not retain this incident.)

MBS:
It's "have" not "has".
CL: The SF is a Tyco Super 630 (Alco C-630) Unit, note the "Vampire" truck sideframes.

Hi CamdenLine, microbusss,
I love the Athearn stuff and the F45 body style. I have a BN as well, just not the same # or with the metal trucks. Great story behind yours CamdenLine.
Thanks for showing your engines.

Very sleek Marklin, catfordken. Red and black speed machine! Liking Mike's lonely VIA in a sea of CN style red and black as well.
Should've posted this last night but got distracted; brand new Santa Fe class, bit exciting!
A slow 2-10-2 heavy freight locomotive on passenger duty might be unlikely but I think it looks swell, especially the natty vanderbilt tender. This Chinese made IHC Union Pacific model is just as quiet, smooth and strong as the Western Maryland 2-10-2 it replaced in my roster. Still wish I had both, though.
Mehano is rumoured to be re-entering the US market under their own name touting North American locos with all the literal bells and whistles of DCC sound. As a curious sidenote, IHC's website is now back online. The mystery deepens...

Bernie Paul, founder of IHC and AHM died recently, and from everything I heard no one bought them out, so I wonder who's maintaining the website.

Dammit Mike! So that's where all the good examples have gone...

I think I have more of them somewhere O_o.
I'll throw some Tyco CP into the mix for my LotW.

Cheez,
Two of your examples, that I can see clearly, are plastic MU2s, that's neat.

To fix the screw boss that holds the fuel tank weight if it's just stripped, use CA inside it to give the screw something to grab. If the boss is missing, or just missing a chunk, use an old model maker's trick: rebuild it with CA and baking soda. Add a little CA, and sprinkle some baking soda over it. It will harden right away, then add more CA, another layer of baking soda, etc, until it's large enough to grind to shape with your Dremel and drill out for the screw. I rebuilt a screw boss for my Rivarossi E8 that had about a third missing. I wrapped what was left with clear tape, then filled it as I described.
If it's just broken off, CA and baking soda will reinforce it, because it's like cement. I prefer Zap, because it comes in a large quantity and is very strong. Just don't glue yourself to the shell.

I'll have to remember that. I know at least one of the fuel tanks still has the post jammed inside of it, which may be a problem. The baking soda and super glue sounds like a good trick though.

It's a trick I learned when I was working for a toy company. After seeing all that we did with it, my boss asked me if his son could use it to fix his old Jetta, because the end of the accelerator cable housing had a broken plastic clip that attached it to the engine. I told him to be sure he cleaned and degreased the parts first, but it should work. He was skeptical, but returned the next week in disbelief that the car was working again.

** My locomotive this week is the Aristo Craft FRISCO SL-SF Mikado. * A large all metal locomotive made in the late 1950s and early 1960s. * This is a all original with factory paint and all good castings and running. * This locomotive is over 50 years old
