Hey Guys:

We've all had model Loco's arrive bashed from the kind hands of their duly appointed couriers; Postal Service, UPS, FedEx etc. As I was going through some info on the BEDT (Brooklyn Eastern District Terminal RR) I came across this photo and explanation:

April 4 1976 – Pidgeon Street BEDT

Note: Front Fireman's foot-board is missing and Pilot is bent!

We all have these, Loco's with broken steps etc. and know what so did the REAL RR's!

If it happens to our models, it stands to reason it could happen to the prototype as well, although that Alco looks like it hasn't seen service or paint in at least 15 years.

Does this mean I don't have to replace all those missing stirrups?

Until now, I have never seen a real engine missing a front step.

Credit goes to Budman for finding this and posting it to FB,, but I've been in love with this GP40-Mutt ever since:

Talk about a mongrel! We've all known and loved running-wreck automobiles... but railroads even do beaters better.

Looks like I'll be diving under the tables at the next train show...

Now that's a "kit-bashed" paint job. Are you going to attempt that one? It's well beyond my abilities and patience.
