Looks like we're a little behind this week for CotW. I'll get things started.
This is one of my favourite cars. It's a Tri-ang observation dome car.

ok sooo I go a little crazy on pics but here is a Tyco auto carrier with assorted Tyco cars & 2 Bachmann Chevy Citations My ONLY good auto carrier out of 4
& a Kleenex car both sides

I think the cheaper Tyco cars look more like the late 1980s Mustangs

I like this week's theme of "bringing up the rear, " but I'm going to ignore it because I just spent three days in Branson, Missouri and this is what I have to show for it:

Later tonight or tomorrow I'll post some other cool things I did there. We rode a scenic train made up of two locos and ex Zephyr cars, we saw a train display at a toy museum, and we went to an interesting little model train museum that is right up our alley. I'll have pictures later.

Mine too, DaCheez. Observation domes are the classiest of tail cars.
Is your CN Tri-ang an old metal made one or is it plastic?

I just found out about the existence of domed Observation cars recently, and on Ebay I have bid on one so far. I like them too!

Microbusses you've inspired me to put my auto trailer back together. It currently sits in pieces. Of course, I only have one of the autos. I'm impressed I even have one. Man were those were cheap.

Okay, thanks Ken. If I see a metal Hornby-Triang car for sale, would it in reality be a Hornby-Dublo? When Triang bought Hornby, do you know if any Dublo products survived the transition?

Good luck with The Great Observation Dome Car Hunt, AMC_Gremlin_GT. I don't know why the design has not been more popular with model manufacturers. I think they'd sell heaps!

What make is it? Mantua made one did they not? Con-cor makes a dome observation car as well. If I ever find the Concor car in Via Rail I'll be snapping that up and pimping it out to go with my Walthers cars. I'm actually quite disappointed Walthers didn't make a domed obs. car. I mean, they made a model of the Hiawatha...how hard is it to put a dome on an observation car!?

Tyco obviously did, not sure about the older Mantua. Here's the one I bought a few weeks ago, had forgotten it in the recent company move planning, I'm tired. Seller didn't know what make it was, it's metal shell with a fiberboard chassis, metal trucks. Athearn? Not sure. Help me out here, guys!

Paint isn't the greatest, but that can be revamped. I liked it because it was a metal bodied Observation Vista Dome. Edit - guess I can consider this to be my COTW contribution. :)

I think Mantua made them in the 80's after splitting from Tyco. American Flyer might have made them back in the 50's (not sure about that, I know they made dome cars), but I don't think they ever ended up in any Tyco sets.
I like your dome obs car BTW. I'm interested to know who it's made by as well.

This may answer your question regarding dome cars. I bought the Mantua set in the early '80's.

That's an awesome set Mike The dome obs car is listed as "new" in the 1989 catalog on HOseeker. It doesn't look like it had a very long run.
