Update: sale ended 7-18-10.
In case anyone's interested, Factory Direct Trains has BLI Hi-railers on sale. They ought to be a lot better than the old Bachmann Tracksters, and the DC versions are $25, which seems pretty reasonable.
This is the pickup...

...but I prefer the 1929 sedan.

Hi NP, I got the email from factory direct and ordered a DCC pickup, the DCC version is $35. I have one of the track mobiles, it runs really well. Looking forward to the HiRailer

Someone on another forum said that only the rear axle is driven, so that is like the Tracksters. Eaglerock, can you post a vid of yours when you get it?
Shay, I can just picture that rocket engine shearing the cab off and taking off on it's own trajectory. Maybe you should contact Adam and Jamie at Mythbusters to see if they'll test your theory.

Here's a video of the FDT hi Railer in motion on my layout. Sorry it took so long for this video. The Hi Railer runs well on clean track, somewhat tempermental on not so clean. Tom
