I came across this, and couldn't believe it!
"In a stunning business move during the economic crisis, Mattel, Inc. has re-introduced HO scale trains through its Tyco R/C line. Tyco, previously known to manufacture miniature trains, left the business in 1993, the majority of toy train moulds and dies falling into the hands of International Hobby Corporation, a modern day Tyco. Mattel claims they have leased moulds from several companies to complete the former Tyco line, including International Hobby Corp. and Life-Like trains, a division of Wm K. Walthers, Inc. Mattel has also bought many moulds from the former toy train manufacturer Mehano, which went bankrupt in late 2008. Mattel spokesperson B.J. Hunnicutt had this to say, "It's a very exciting time, despite the number of challenges were facing. But we do expect the Tyco line to be a huge seller, and were sure more seasoned model railroaders will be happy to see some old friends."
More info can be found here.
Maybe I'll have to buy a NEW Super 630!

Brilliant!
Only problem is that new 630 would come with "9.6V TURBO power!!!" and cost $74.99.

I might have believed this Tyco announcement if the new company was founded by the talented and resourceful members of this forum...

So who didn't know this was an April Fools gag? "Spokesperson B.J. Hunnicutt?"
It was a cruel trick, tho. I mean, that's all the world needs, more Powertorques...

I'm sorry everyone, but I had to do it. Honestly, I didn't think it would fool anybody, but I guess I was wrong about that!
Imagination and a few minutes with a keyboard can do wonders...oh, and it helps to use terms like "spokesperson" or "economic crisis." Try to avoid the word "the" as well!
Oh, and congrats to NP759 for picking up on the B.J. Hunnicutt thing. I told ya I was a fan of the TV show MASH!
So, sorry to everyone who I fooled, but that's April Fool's for ya!

Hmmmm....I hear that Tyco will be releasing a DCC version powertorque.....
The new improved powertorque doesn't "squeal" but the sound can be replicated with the quantum soundchip on board...."for nostalgia"....

Wonder if the DCC version will also include a operating mode so instead of smooth starting & stopping the engine will jerk around and take off like a bat outta hell?

well, it's not every year an article comes up showing penguins actually taking flight...
I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?
