Hey Fella's:

I took a flyer on a batch of Steamer boilers/cabs and diesel shells! Was hoping some of you guys could help ID them. The two diesels are an Alco FA don't know if Lindsay or Hobbytown, or other. The other diesel is an Alco High Hood HH600/6660/900/1000 don't know who made it though. I think some of the steamers are Bowser or Penn Line Pennsy units because of the Belpaire sections...????

Any help would be appreciated.... and UM I spent $60.... which hopefullty won't turn out to be money wasted!?

Thanks,
Gareth

The green diesel must be Hobbytown, the two shells to the right of it are Penn Line or Bowser K4.
The small loco is a Varney Docksider. There is a Varney F-Diesel frame under it. The frame without trucks are also Varney. In the small box I can see a Ulrich Hopper.
Check this out to identify the others: http://bowser-trains.com/holocos/holocos.htm - Erich

Hi. Great find. It looks like the shell to the far left is a Mantua mikado. The shell next to it may be a John English pacific.

I agree with what's been said so far. I'll add that the steamer shells---4th and 6th from the left---are Cary Locomotive Works shells...possibly the high hood switcher just under the boilers to the left as well. If these three are Cary, you did do well just on those...

Hey SG:

That Alco HH I don't think is the S-1/2/3/4 that Cary brought out. I have one and it's not that. See the little barrel crosswise fuel tanks, that I think makes it a HH600/1000 and I can't remember who made them, used to know but I was younger!

I think you nailed it, Kris.

The boiler weight/smoke unit is from an early Chattanooga 2-8-0, and the hopper sides are Ulrich.

That Alco HH it turns out is likely a cast Walther's unit, which is supposed to be pretty crude but I was wondering if any of you guys have built one up and what chassis did you use? Could you make a nice model from it, or perhaps I should save have/did you?

Best,
Gareth
