Here's a decent customized load car I got in an Ebay lot a few months ago. Has bits and pieces of equipment on it, not a bad load.

Hey microbusss, a Great Northern stock car that ain't blue! Too cool.
burlington77, all my Roco cars have separate ladders so are the molded in ones like on your Heinz car a recent thing?
Here is my COTW:
No my Tyco compadres, this isn't a double-decker doodlebug, rather it's a Cab Control car of the Trinity Railway Express modeled in HO by Athearn. From here, a driver can operate the locomotive at trains end remotely for push return running, useful when time or space are limited. However, this does give a train the appearance of going backwards which is goofy but also kinda neat!

The TRE (Trinity Railroad Express) runs between Dallas and Ft Worth (Texas) six days a week with stops along the way. I live in Irving which has two of the stops. The tracks are about two miles away. Last year a section of elevated tracks was added and I no longer hear the train whistles. The non-elevated crossings are double gated and are quiet zones. A second set of tracks are being added to the elevated section to allow additional places for parking of the occasional freight trains that also use the railway.
During the morning and afternoon "commuter" times, the TRE will run 4 cars plus the engine. From Dallas to Ft Worth, the engine is pulling and on the return trip it is pushing. Most of the rest of the time the consist is three cars but occasionally it is just two.
The TRE also runs another older set of cars, domed, that are self propelled.
In terms of a "model layout", there would not be much of interest, Probably 80% of the railway between the two cities (apx 40 miles, 1 hr by TRE) runs through industrial areas. There are occasional places where the tracks cross a major road, but not much variation in scenery. Here is a picture of the route.
I do enjoy eating at my favorite place (Joe's Coffee Shop) and watching the trains go by. My wife bought me a TRE set a couple of years ago and I enjoy it also.
Cheers Bill

Thanks. Somebody spent a lot of time making those short videos.
The TRE also has its own web site and one part has some background info on the engines and cars -
http://www.trinityrailwayexpress.org/trerollingstock.html
and some pictures:
http://www.trinityrailwayexpress.org/images.html
A few times I have had business in down town Dallas and took the TRE in. One Christmas my wife and I took our grandson to Ft Worth to see the lights and stockyards - and missed the return train. Oops, that was a $70 cab ride to get home. (I've taken hire cars from Gatwick to Winchester for less than that.)
OK, back to our "regularly scheduled shows" ..
Cheers Bill

Burlington77. Nice Find in that action lot. The Heinz Reefer Car is a Roco made for Lionel HO Catalog number 5-8542 Made in 1975-76. Considered hard to find intact. It is one of the 6 Austrian made Reefer cars, that was made for Lionel HO in the 1970's. Carl

Well that's pretty cool. It certainly was the standout item in a box of otherwise average stuff.

Lots of great info and nifty links on the TRE, guys. Thanks! I wonder if another HO manufacturer will pick up from where Athearn left off?
