I keep seeing what looks like new Mantua tunnel clearance cars, seen them at shows, yet the dealer ad on this one saying they're "long out of production". The descriptions keep saying OOP new. So, which is it?
http://cgi.ebay.com/Mantua-OLD-WEST-Steam-Era-MoW-CLEARANCE-Car-OOP-HO-NEW-/360243678045?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item53e0324b5d
What the hell is the OOP for? Are these repro's, or what? I don't get it....

I believe Mantua is out of business and I guess the seller has an unused car that we would call NOS, new old stock

What'd they do, find a stash? The boxes look brand NEW. I've seen them all over Ebay, and the traveling train shows. I didn't think Mantua used vacuum formed plastic that much for packaging.

Correct. Mantua Metal Products closed up shop in 2001. http://www.railstop.com/History/Mantua/MantuaHistory.asp
Model Power acquired the tooling and has re-released part of the line as their "Mantua Classics" line (some steam locomotives, the ex-Lindberg cars from the Mantua "Heavies" line, and the 19th century passenger and frieght cars). They have not yet reissued this kit. http://store.modelpower.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=30
