Ok, this is more hardware than software, although the plastic IS pretty flexible. After yesterday's run, the comments on my Getaway and Cabooze cars were good, although heard a few comments about needing windows. I'm sure the Honeymoom 'boose was drafty, and that's why the two lovebirds had to generate a little "heat" of their own. So, today, Sunday, I got them out and worked outside on a bench in the shade, and used some of the plastic panels I'd saved from diecast car packaging to make caboose windows. The first was a blue Lifelike Santa Fe floodlight car, I removed the floodlight, it will no longer lighten the skies of any layout now. I cut individual windows on this one.

Here's the MOdel Power Chessie Crane car I removed the crane, and it's now a part of the Mobile Traitel consist. You can see the reflection of the installed windows, and how I made them in one big piece of plastic :

Here's a shot of all the MOW cars I installed windows in today, complete with vintage AMC Gremlin on the Honeymoon car:

Another project, an old Mantua Tunnel? clearance car, if I can restore it enough, will join the MOW cars as a sort of "hang-out" car while traveling. The truck screws are rusted to the steel weight, hope I can break them loose without breaking them. The front door is weird, due to the steps, it's about the right size for HO scale dwarfs. Not sure if I want to try to redo it, or leave it as is. Suggestions?

So, that was my Sunday afternoon/evening project, I installed WIndows in 6 cars without crashing the PC..oh, wait, different Windows. A good day for customizing, my first ever windows attempt, and I think they turned out well. The cupola's were tiny, so I had to cut strips for those, I couldn't bend the plastic tight enough in the corners, you could see the bend from outside, so those parts got individual strips all the way around. Whew! Time to take a break. :)

Cool stuff. I did the same thing to a bunch of the buildings on my layout a while back. It's great how much you can enhance windows with a Hotwheels package
