MB--I think that BN is an Athearn.
Ken--How does that loco run? I've got the a PRR one, and I can't keep it on the tracks. It runs fine in reverse, but going forward the front truck wants fly off the rails all the time.

Did someone mention Alco PA's? Ohh, what might have been...
Athearn's drivetrain/shell ratio was obviously askew because like catfordken's NYC units upthread, this Santa Fe PA is also a powered dummy. Of course, when I pop my clogs, it could be a troublesome loco to resell but that worries me not for they must first pry it from my cold dead hands,
FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS!

My LOTW is more Light-rail than true locomotive, but it's powered and that's what counts, right? Picked it up today from a vendor at the Timonium MD Great Train Show. Not sure what make it is, it's heavy, though. I like Trams and Streetcars.

If anyone knows anything about this unit, let me know. Thanks! I'll be doing some research myself today.

Nice, thanks! You guys really come thru on this site, seems like someone has seen something at sometime somewhere.
I took mine apart, found a wire loose, it does run, but very slowly ( prototypically? lol ). Obviously needs a good internal cleaning of the contacts and such, and probably the axles need grease or cleaning, too. Once it picks up speed, it moves smoothly and silently. Nice piece. Think $40 was too much for it? Since it's all metal, I figured it was worth it.

Jerry,
I finally took some shots of the two I bought last year. The dealer was selling off the remains of an old club traction layout. I got both of them for $35, and I haggled because they needed a lot of work. The Brill (which Bachmann copied exactly in plastic, btw) turned out to have a split brass axle gear, which I was able to repair, but it still makes a thunking noise.

The Interurban is a bit sluggish, like you described, even after a cleaning and tune up. The Brill really takes off, though, so the Interurban may have a weakened magnet. It runs well enough, though.
