Toptrain has the prewar version of the BBO 729. As Austrian railroads got part of the German Reichsbahn it was called 78. After war BBO was changed to OBB, but kept the german number.
You both have the original Kleinbahn motor. (later changed to Mabuchi) I have never seen one with this red front. Must be a special for exported ones. - Erich

Sorry Toptrain, I do not know this drive. But I think its from Eastern Germany - Piko or Gutzold. The pic (Piko) loks similar to yours. Maybe from a later more plastic updateded version. - Erich

Permot
GDR toys
Permot was founded by Gerhard Hruska in Glashütte (Saxony, East Germany) in 1949 and started manufacturing model railways and model railroad accessory. Later musical boxes and model plane engines were added to the range. In the late 1960s Permot had to cease production of model railways and concentrated on 1/87th scale models of commercial vehicles. Among other models, a Skoda truck was released in many different liveries. The company was completely nationalized by the GDR in 1972 and became the state combine Prefo Betriebsteil 3. In the course of the German reunification, Gerhard Hruska regained control over the company in 1990. The range of model vehicles was extended, and Permot is now maintained as a family business in the third generation.

No Toptrain, what you have is a loco made in Austria. It was all black befor the Germans came and clored it with a red frame and red tires. After war we colored the frame back black and the tires red or black. The number on yours should be 78. But Kleinbahn dont care for this. - Erich
