I'm working on something different...
I'm kit bashing a TYCO piggyback loader, a flat car, a couple of US1 trailers, and a section of track to make a loader that loads US1 trailers onto track
I'm sticking with the North Carolina theme- but I'm not sure if I'm going with Carolina, Overnite Transportation, Consolidated Freight, or UPS. All of those liveries were fairly common to where I lived.

Sounds cool Johnny! I like the piggybacks, US1 and the whole idea. I am a big Tyco slotcar track & piggyback fan

Microscale offers some nice ones with Overnite's livery.
However, they'll only let me spend $20 minimum. 2x decal sets would only be $8... I really don't need $12 more in decals!
So... as usual... Testor's Decal paper and MS PowerPoint to the rescue.

UPDATE:
I've created two trailers based upon TYCO 369 shells using heavily modified US-1 trailer frames. Basically, I cut the frames down, reduced their width, sectioned in the front pintle, and sectioned back in the trailer legs.
To get tandem trailers... I modified a TYCO US-1 trailer axle assembly to make a single axle dolly. I also added styrene U shaped fittings to accept the dolly on the back of the trailer axle assemblies. The front slot on the dolly essentially becomes a pin that fits into the socket on the trailer axle assemblies.
The trailers have been shot in Dupli-Color aluminum finish paint. They look really nice and are awaiting decals from Microscale.
The cab is a conventional Mack painted in Dupli-Color navy blue- awaiting a gray two-tone effect. I'm using a Night Haulers cab since it lights up. Should create a really neat effect- Overnite at night.
Next week- I'll section out the unloading platform and resection in a strip of US-1 track. Possibly using a long segment like what was used for the auto loader.
Not sure if I want to paint and weather the piggyback loader yet. Tony's loader looks really nice here- http://goingincirclez.com/TycoTrains/Guide/1 I think I'll paint mine and add an Overnite logo to it. Leave it kinda new looking.

I may have to get with you on that deal in the future, Micro. I've got the end businesses, but I don't have much plain straight or curved track to GO to or from the platforms, unloaders, etc.

It's coming along...
Here are some highlights- - The flat car has been notched and reliefed for the wheels on the shortened US-1 trailers frames - The piggybacks have been painted and the livery decals have been applied - The truck cab has been painted and given new life with new chrome - The platform has been modified to include a US-1 track
Pics to follow of the in-progress project!

Here it is...
- Track is mounted on the platform - Rails on the train car are notched for the trailer - Paint is on everything!

Thanks for the feedback!
Here's a video of it in action. Three truck operations...
An added bonus is that the doubles are shorter than the standard trailer and can negotiate the turns easier- so it is actually possible to run doubles and singles together. With full size trailers, the trailers would hit each other. Not so with the doubles.

Awesome work, JohnnyKane! Great seeing the trailers in action. If some company ever decides to resurrect US1 Electric Trucking, they should hire you!
