Hi Guys, I have been looking at the site for awhile, Now I am becoming more active hopefully! My Name Is Dave Luyster Jr. I live in Ohio. I model the Norfolk and Western and Norfolk Southern in HO scale. Mt first electric train set was the TYCO Virginian Back In 1985/86, So I guess my interest in the NW/NS might stem From that! Most of my first trains Were the stuff I see on this sight so it does bring back a lot of memories. I will always have a soft spot for the Billboard advertising type cars. I enjoy This forum because you guys have fun with trains,That's the whole point right? Its not like a lot of the other forums full of "Professional" Model Railroaders. Even though I model a specific prototype and try to have a realistic layout I still step back and know when to lighten up and have fun with trains.

Alcodave - Yes all of have fun and know what you mean by other sites - nothing wrong with those -but seems most are not having fun - I do like prototype but do not get so wrapped up in details and such that can take the fun out of it. Glad you joined us - Just looked at your picture and commented on your 76 station scene - Brian

Hi Dave. the reference is to a BBC TV show from the 1980s Called "Red Dwarf". The main Character's name Is Dave Lister. Over the years it has developed a Cult Following. Just Google Red Dwarf. To really get the show you have to follow it though it's 8 seasons and the recent reunion movie Back to Earth. Funny show. Carl

I will take your word for it! I don't know if I want to get involved in eight seasons plus a movie! lol!

The name Luyster is pronounced Lie-stir is from Holland. People named Luyster are shown on record living in New York During the 1600's! My ancestors where already here for 100 years before the American Revolution. Thats kind of cool. Almost 200 years before trains though so it sucks for them! lol

Welcome, Dave. I live in Virginia, my Dad was C&O, but his cousin lived at the junction of the NW and Virginian in Crewe, VA, and I have property down that way now. I live near Washington, DC myself, in northern Virginia. I've started collecting NW stuff recently, from freight to passenger cars. No home layout, but I've acquired one, and it's at my property in Crewe, hopefully to be resurrected some day.

Anyway, glad you're aboard here, it's a fun group, no rivet-worshipping HERE that I've seen. :) See ya around the forum here...

Welcome to the forum, Dave!

The atmosphere here is definitely casual, so enjoy. I have enough hypertensive symptoms without turning my hobby into a source of stress, lol.
