I'm trying to confirm my suspicions that the diesel chassis I bought out of a junkbox is indeed an old Penn Line or later copy running chassis. It has an enclosed motor on the truck, a casting almost, with a brass band across it width-wise. rear chassis has two long metal cones sticking up, casting exits, I'd guess, and the couplers mount on a cone post hanging down, at least the power end does. Has a 5 tank-like casting underneath, which I think is a Penn Line trait. Anyway, the heavy zinc weight / chassis has Lindsay cast into it in two places, haven't heard of that before. Anyone familiar with the Lindsay casting? The front part of the frame is plastic and mounted to the diecast part somehow, cast pins? Can't really tell. But's its a half and half chassis, part zinc, part plastic (front). Any opinions are welcome.

Based on your description and since you did not post any pictures, I think this is what you are talking about. This was designed for Globe / Athearn. But, Can be used on Penn line and Varney F Units Carl

Yes, that's it! Here's a picture of mine, in the middle. I didn't know it was interchangeable that much with other makes, I'd think the mounting would be too different. Nice to know that. Thanks for the confirmation, I've never heard of Lindsay before, I'll have to research them more.

That Lindsay Chassis is a unique design.
The Varney Chassis is for an F-7 unit I have three of them.... well two complete units and one bare frame... nothing like metal!
