Went to the train hobby shop in Wilson, NC. The Antique Barn. One of the many items I want for a train layout is accurate scale HO vehicles, particularly Dodge or Plymouth muscle cars. For some reason, I cannot find them or if I do find one the price is kind of excessive or the scale fidelity is lacking. This time I found a 1/87 Model Power 1970 Plymouth Barracuda. I checked the various dimensions of the model and in most cases the variation was very slight. For instance, the body with of the model was .004" from 100% accurate. Thats about 3/8 scale inches. Some the details were not real crisp but, certainly acceptable AND the clincher: NIB for only $4.60.
Unspoken expectations are premeditated failures.

You obviously haven't checked out the Hotwheels 1/87th line, have you? They have a purple Hemi 71? Cuda, and Malibu International ( Walmart used to sell them, they're not there anymore ) had some Mopars, too. HW HO is $4, the Malibu's were like $3 a few years ago. The Hotwheels come in small rectangular boxes with a showcase, too, as does the Malibu cars. Model Power buys those same cars from whichever Chinese maker sells them to Malibu, some modesl are exactly the same, only a different color. Only place I've seen the Hotwheels HO are at Wal-mart and Toys R Us in Virginia. Malibu International I've only seen at Wal-marts. Model Power only at hobby stores or train shows. So there are a few other HO options, but you'll have to look around. Hotwheels HO ( there's two series/types, btw) has more hot rod stuff than stock, they've got '40's Ford trucks hot-rodded, 57 Chevy panel trucks, among others.

I did not know about the WallyWorld cars. I checked ebay for Malibu Int. cars. I found many foreign cars, some big rig trucks. I looked for Hot Wheels. Found a ''70 Dodge Challenger
and a Plymouth Superbird. VERY INTERESTING. The Superbird proportions look way off.
The Challenger appeared to be accurate except for the scale 20" rims.
Thanks for the tip, AMC. Eventually, I would like to have many different makes and model
cars on my layout roads. By the way, I have the Fresh Cherries AMC Pacer.

Yes, the Superbird is not a very accurate model, but the Challenger is NICE. I have a few of the 'birds and one Challenger.

Sadly most of them are foreign. Oh well, that's where the market is these days. Enjoy your hunting.

Fresh Cherries are off the market. They're being repackaged by Motormax as something else, I think some are under the American Graffiti series, which Wal-mart and Toys R Us do carry. But not in HO, these are the 1/64th series. Fresh Cherries HO is gone for good, I think, from reading about them at another site. Oh, the pain, the pain < quote from Dr. Smith, Lost in Space>
