I think that the PL loco was made by the German firm Bing.
A lot of German trains were imported to America before WW1.
And Erich, I think you're right about it being #1 gauge.

Gauge 1 was popular in the U.S. until Standard Gauge overtook it in the 1920's. The Diecast construction makes me think it is a Gauge 1 Ives. I don't know how correct the pantographs or wiring to them are. Perhaps it was modified to operate from a live overhead wire.

I am not a rivit counter but it is a model based on a New York Central loco. I think an S2 electric. Funny it's decorated for Pennsylvania.

I think X2F is right about the pantographs, and wiring not being factory made.
I'm still thinking it's a Bing loco.

Sorry for the bad pics, but the opening times of the shop are fare away from being customer friendly. Maybe I can get better pics. - Erich

Wow! I stand corrected. I never knew Bing made this particular model of electric engine. It has always been one of my favorite locos. I believe the prototype was in service up threw the 1970's. They pulled passenger trains into New York City after steam was banned in the early 1900's. Thanks for that great picture.
